Trump administration 2024-2028

Trump is MOD EDIT.

And his policies are popular.

View attachment 92339

Trump's policies, with or without Trump, are going to be around for a long while.

I was overly explicit in my original post and the MODs were required to take down some language that was excessive. I apologize for increasing their workload.

My original intervention was to suggest, in language that I have heard many times recently, that Trump is perceived in less than salutary terms. He is being cursed from here to there and beyond.

But.... as my post goes on to say ..... regardless of the perception of the man many of his policies remain popular, and even among his enemies, with gritted teeth, are agreed as having merit. This is particularly true of his DEI/ESG policies, his border and crime policies, his environmental policies, his antipathy to wars and his efforts to reduce expenditures and taxes.

Will his plans deliver the outcomes he desires? Haven't a clue. But many of his countryfolk are inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to screw up.

As I said, Trumpery is likely to be with us for a long, long time.

And here we go…

Goodbye 2026 and 2028? I don't think this is going to sit well for anyone that isn't eyebrow deep in the MAGA punch.

There are at least three, but probably more problems here:
1. the Supreme Court
2. the Constitution - it would require repeal of both the 12th and 22nd amendments
3. the requirement that constitutional amendments require at least 34 states to agree

And here we go…

Facing a choice between preserving, protecting, and defending the Constitution of the United States of America, and a free pair of Donald Trump branded knee pads, a surprisingly number of Americans will not choose the Constitution.

There are at least three, but probably more problems here:
1. the Supreme Court -they have shown themselves to be incredibly flexible lately
2. the Constitution - it would require repeal of both the 12th and 22nd amendments - the Administration has already shown their intent to ignore parts of the Constitution they find inconvenient
3. the requirement that constitutional amendments require at least 34 states to agree - with a bunch of Representatives and Senators not jealously guarding their power from the White House and senior administration officials having the attitude of “let the Supreme Court enforce their decisions”, I can’t see that being much of a barrier.

Perhaps I should add a fourth complication:
4. the mid-terms, where indications are already predicting a disaster for the GOP

Message from VDH: keep calm

If Trump has secured $4T in new investment in the US and manages to trim the deficit by a cool Trillion, and has effectively secured the southern border from the illegal migrant flow, forced the EU to pay more for its' collective defence so the US doesn't have to... how do you suppose that will impact the US? Better in every metric.

What has the last decade of Canadian PM's managed to do for Canada in the same regard? How are we making out? Almost dead last in growth in Real GDP per Capita of OECD countries, gutted defence, no serious resource extraction. Canada should be the Dubai of the west, but here we are.

Lots of chickens that have yet to laid a single egg in the scenario's that you've pointed out above.
I seem to remember him saying that Mexico was going to pay for some wall to be built in his last term? How did that work out again?

5. Obama could re-enter the chat ;)

Except for one little problem: However, the proposal mentions that the president can only run for the third term if he has served two non-consecutive term, leaving the former President Barack Obama ineligible for another term.

Hmmm...sounds somewhat familiar. I think there is another country's constitution that prevents their president from serving a 3rd term, unless the two terms they served previously were non-consecutive. If only I could remember who that was...
