Why do we care if parliament is in session? The executive branch deals with international affairs, not the legislature.

The Canadian Head of Government is not our Head of State. American equivalencies are not applicable in this scenario.
As far as Trudeau is concerned, Singh has just stabbed him in the back. Historically, he doesn't take assaults like that without lashing out to take revenge. His own party is whipping up the courage to call him out. Would it be too far out in left field to suggest that he will wait until about a week before the 27th and then visit the GG to ask for an election to be held before Singh's pension date (for spite). Once the writ has dropped he then tenders his resignation as party leader and leaves them all hanging

There’s a good possibility that the ones left out of Cabinet are actually competent and brilliant. The reasons they were excluded are legion, including:
- They speak the wrong language
- Come from the wrong province
- Have the wrong gender
- Have the wrong skin pigmentation
- They are much smarter and more competent than the PM or anyone in the PMO and would thus overshadow the PM

I don't see how thought. Making bold statements then doing nothing is Singhs thing. Who wasn't expecting him to make yet another poo poo Trudeau statement? We're just closer to D-day so he needs to sound a little more aggressive.

I have a hard time thinking Trudeau will resign if he just shuffled his cabinet. I mean, if you’re on your way out, you’d let your successor choose their cabinet.
I think he’s going to wait for this to blow over. And from what we’ve seen from the gutless pack of worms that is the Liberal caucus, I could see this working.

My bet is Singh will find some reason between now and the next parliament sitting that will change his mind and cause him to give the Liberals just one more chance - for the sake of Canadians.
Yes, and I’ve expressed my own skepticism too. But he’s basically pushed raised his bet, and if it comes around to him again he’s got no choice but to go all in.

Well, maybe I'm naive, but I see the glass at least 1/4 full hearing a cabinet minister saying out loud "we're not ready" on ANY front. Small steps, no?
If all remains as is, for sure - but even you said a lot's happened in 2 weeks. I suspect an AWFUL lot could change quite quickly - and BIGLY - if the full weight of tariffs fall on 21 January (32 days from this post & counting). And if the impact over the first few weeks is as big as a few of the commentariat say, it will allow Team Orange's coach enough wiggle room to say, "now's not the time." I REALLY hope I'm wrong, but it ain't impossible.
Yeah. At this point it’s just a gut feel, but I think if anything wild is gonna happen it’ll be in the next three weeks.
