I was attending an exhibit at a museum where I noticed these interesting combat boots that when I asked my mom if she had seen them before she said that they came out some time in the 1990s, maybe even around the early 2000s when they were starting to look into a replacement for the MK III but were very short lived because they had issues with waterproofing and stuff. I personally think they look very interesting and unique and started looking into purchasing a pair but I couldn’t find any information online describing or mentioning anything about this pattern of combat boot. Does anyone remember when these would have been issued or know any additional information about them?

They look more like a COTS item —> Matterhorn boots

IIRC the Debacle of the CWWB was in the late 90’s which I think you may be referring.
Those boots sucked - I wouldn’t even put them on a display.

Those look like Chicom Danner rip-offs. Legit Danner Matterhorns had more overlapped pieces on the side reinforcing the side welt and a strap from the heel up to mid-arch position…very comfortable and supportive. These boots look like a crappy single piece full heel to toe piece that I can’t imagine would take load in the right directions and last while providing comfort and support. My Matterhorn ls are packed away but they were better build quality than these mannequin specials….which your right, KevinB, could be some of that late-90s hot mess garbage trying to locally un-phooque the phooqued boot procurement at the time.

Most likely aren’t something that was widely procured or even like but I don’t think that the design of the boot with the quarter panels extending all the way to the toe is a particularly flawed design, maybe not the best for the application, but similar designs are fairly common in work work boots and even hockey skates use a similar construction. Thanks for sharing what you knew about them though, lots more than I was able to ascertain from my mother. One of my thoughts is that they look fairly similar in terms of material and “quality” (if you can call it that) to the Garrison boots so possibly they were a short lived attempt by H.H. Brown to make a general purpose boot?

Garrison boot, 😆 now that was….something. I never wore them…stuck with the Matterhorns as aircrew, but our Sqn siggy had not much good to say about the Garrison Dress boots…

My parents seemed to hate them too but I’ve had a pair that I got as hand me downs cause I needed steel toes for work and honestly they’re not as bad as people make them out to be, they’re pretty much the same as Corcoran Jump Boot except with the Vibram sole, that being said, definitely the break in was horrendous

No comparison at all. Garrisons were closely related to cardboard, even with repeated soakings were nearly impossible to break in. Corcorans not so. Have worn both for extended periods, Wouldn't want to jump a GB!
