The LPC has tended orange of late, to recover the Layton Liberals. But that means they have been bleeding the Blue Liberals to the CPC.
THAT right there is dead on. If someone said "Armyrick, you loudmouth asshole, what is the simplest campaigning strategy to guarantee success in elections". I would steal THAT one liner right there. They went to where they at least feel heard.
I wonder if we will get back to old school political ways or is this "the new normal?"The LPC has tended orange of late, to recover the Layton Liberals. But that means they have been bleeding the Blue Liberals to the CPC.
Very true. That is what Trump did with the undesireablesTHAT right there is dead on. If someone said "Armyrick, you loudmouth asshole, what is the simplest campaigning strategy to guarantee success in elections". I would steal THAT one liner right there.
Truth be told, if you do as Remius says, you can win any election. Not just the "undesirables" or any other labelled portion of a population. The trick is not just to HEAR the people but ACT appropriately on it.Very true. That is what Trump did with the undesireables
No; I’m a functioning adult possessed of basic civility. I don’t need an external constraint to prevent from making a spectacle of myself telling a politician to eff off in front of their kid. If I don’t like a politician, I vote against them. If the opportunity arises I might respectfully discuss and debate policy, which I’ve had the opportunity to do a couple times over beers with serving MPs.When you are on parade and the PM is inspecting the guard, are you biting the inside of your mouth to keep from blurting out exactly what she said? What prevents you? Your inherent refinement, discipline or the desire to maintain your income? IMHO she has merely expressed what we would all like to say and can't. Bravo lady.
She won’t.not good unless the GG can legitimately refuse Trudeau's upcoming request to pirogue parliament. If he rules for 60 days by fiat he will drive a stake through whatever economy we have left or maybe (fingers crossed he will just resign and go for a new leader
…and catching up on the pages since I came back, you take things far too personally. Looking at your responses, I was wondering if I had insulted you by accident.Absolute garbage article. Typical Left wing trash with no details or facts and just declaring anybody who disagrees with the far left woke as "far right" blah, blah, blah....garbage.
Your getting tiresome, dude.
At least find a source worthy of making some commentary against this lady such as CBC, CTV or Global. Convoy Watch? Read the article in detail, its very short on facts and heavy on allegations.
So, interesting thing about Universal Basic Income - they did a trial in the 1970s in Dauphin, MB called Mincome where if you made below a certain threshold, the program gave you a “top up”.Almost time for Trudeau to promise everyone can either work from home or get free basic income if you don't feel like working.
“It wasn’t a case of getting money to live and do nothing,” says Sharon Wallace-Storm, who grew up in Dauphin and was 15 when the experiment began. “They set a level for how much a family of three or four needed to get by. You applied showing how much you were making, and if you didn’t meet that threshold they would give you a top up.”
It was a garbage precedent to set then and would be a garbage one to uphold now. However it would be a worse precedent for the GG to go against that constitutional convention. She won’t.
Harper set the precedent for gvts to avoid non confidence motions using prorogation.
Yes. I think it would be more of the leftist socialists though that think the the LPC is too right wing as well.
The NDP had anlready lost its union support when they ignored them in favour of a more champagne socialist platform. The CPC populist approach was used to great effect to attract that voting block. They went to where they at least feel heard.

Not everyone shares my preferred approach, and that’s fine. To each their own.

The Harper prorogation was not automatic, and it also came with a long list of caveats, including a budget to be voted on (confidence motion) once Parliament resumed. PMs asking to dissolve Parliament aren't always a rubber stamp approval. She won’t.

Wow. A change to Rand would be monumental within Canadian union law.CPC has announced an intent to revisit the Rand formula to limit such payments by non members represented by a collective bargaining agent to those costs related to bargaining only (not the wider social justice efforts made by many unions). That could be a strong tool to encourage folks to quit the union to pay less...
It's a canny approach to causing divisions within organized labour, while being able to claim they are trying to save workers money, all when the major federal public sector unions will be entering a bargaining cycle, when the largest and most militant blew its strike fund unsuccessfully a couple years earlier and has a lack of legitimacy with its members after they claimed to have all but enshrined WFH and found out a promise to study something is pretty much worthless.
TL;DR the early months of the CPC might be particularly interesting to watch in terms of organized labour.
Wild card: watch for the Rand changes to be pushed through with the Notwithstanding Clause.

Pierre Trudeau Prorogued 11 Times. 11.She won’t.

For the uneducated, yes. The nuance is that Harper prorogued parliament to stop a coalition that none of the 3 parties had campaigned on just a month and change before. His party wasn't falling apart, his polling numbers weren't taking. I much would have preferred he just call an election instead of proroguing to call the bluff of the Lib/NDP/BQ power grab. She won’t.

Sure. Prorogation used to be used routinely. Just not routinely to avoid confidence motions.Pierre Trudeau Prorogued 11 Times. 11.
