Ranger Status

Ok am wondering what would be the status of a Canadian Ranger if he was taken Prisoner of War?

Under LOAC, is a ranger military or considered a para military?

Rangers have Military ID and a uniform (that consists of the red ball cap and sweatshirt.
They are classified as a form of reservist and are on the area's Orbat

Legally, the Candian Rangers are considered members of the Reserve Force within the Canadian Forces.

Being a Ranger, I can tell you that the only way we could be taken prisoner of war, is to have the war on Canadian soil. Rangers don't leave Canada. We don't have the extensive training that the Regs or militia soldiers do. we are trained as a reconnaissance unit to the forces. We are part of DND, but don't serve outside of Canada.
