Those Cat 3516's are a good idea, low maintenace and spare parts [filters etc]  right from the closest heavy equipment dealer, but they are damn loud!!

Ex-D: I suppose the .50 cal armament is in order to preserve commonality with the rest of the fleet's .50's. Is there any talk of upgrading to 25mm fleet wide in the future?

I doubt very highly that we'll ever get rid of the .50 cal. Its robust, almost sailor proof and to get us something newer would cost money.

They look like a good ship to have for training.... Seem like they would also work in coastal patroling as well...
