DND 404 - Driver's Licence ( merged )

CanadianTire said:
Maybe you can answer this, as MSE in Edmonton wasn't able to and the list that accompanied the latest version of my 404s didn't list these two Specialties: Q and Z.

Also, as a side note there is no Class & Level for the Nanuk/LAV RWS - I believe it falls under a "configuration" of the LAV III.

WPN systems do not appear on 404's.

If I am not mistaken SPEC Q is HLVW Air Brake Endorsement......As I too have that speciality

As of today, this is what Fleet Managment System brings up for permit codes. If you got any questions on your 404's drop me a PM. I can look it up in the system for you. And try my best to answer it.

NLFD Sapper was correct stating Specialty Q = HLVW Air brakes
Specialty Z = RG31 Air brakes.

There are 4 different and separate Air brakes taught in the CF:
B= Commercial and P= LAVIII Air brakes and the 2 above.

Sorry forget to mention your RWS will be on your UER and MPRR

FDTRUCKER is there a reason why they don't show on the extra sheet printed out with the 404's?

Z1 Zamboni Operator?

And I seem to be missing my G29 Cart Golf qual...may need that by this weekend.  ;D

Note that there's also B48 - Zamboni as well.  Leading to the question:  Do you require 500 km/year on the Zamboni to stay current?  And since there are two different Zamboni quals, does that mean you need 2x500 km/year?

Does the CF driving competiton include a Zamboni event?

Thanks.  I knew the RWS would be on my UER, that was more just an FYI for people reading this who may be on the course or slotted on it.

To answer some questions.

NLFD Sapper - It probably has something to do with the program itself. You can contact the FMS Web help desk on the DIN

dataperson - for most vehicle it is 500 km every 3 years unless you are a Driver Trainer/Examiner and then you require 1000 kms in 3 yrs on each veh you are qual on to keep current. For equipment it is so many hours per year, depending on the ECC. How bases have more than 1 Zamboni? CFSDC does not include Zamboni, but include classes such HLVW, Route Discipline, Bus, 5 ton and Tractor Trailer. It is open to all trades as long as each person meets the pre-reqs to enter their base or regional competitions.

I guess I left off the ;)

However, Zamboni is not the correct term - they are ice resurfacers; "Zamboni" is one manufacturer of the equipment - it would be like calling the LSVW a "Western Star".

Interesting FdTrucker....everyone here from my MSE are adement (spelling?) that I get 500 KM/year on our specialty equipment (i.e. the Dump) and 24 HR/year on the Industrial Tractor....

In SPV World, IIRC, dump reqr 30 hours of operation before getting qualifaction.

Fdtrucker, like bugging my boss the other day?

Take care,
TN2IC

Zamboni will now be known as  - ice resurfacers -  SEEN  :camo:

I definately can think of some other colourful names for the LSVW

Does anybody know if DND 404's have to be surrendered or given up if a driver (who has 404s) is involved in an accident?

Given up to who?  Civilian police?  No.  Unit (or Base) Transport, perhaps, depends on the accident.

Do mean surrendered your DND404's to the Police like you would with a Provincial drivers licence when pulled over in a civilian car? or do mean during the DND accident investigation?

After having an accident, my unit has informed me that I will have to surrender my 404s. I don't know if that is permanent or, as you said, just during the accident investigation?

There are many things that can happen here.  You may have lost your 404's due to the seriousness of the accident.  You may have your 404's suspended until such time as the Accident Investigation is complete and you have been cleared of wrong doing, or you have been found at fault and your 404's revoked.  You may have had your 404's revoked until such time as you have had remedial driving lessons.  You may have your 404's revoked until you can be retrained on that particular vehicle/class.

It is difficult for anyone on this site, who doesn't know the particulars of your accident, the frame of mind of your CoC, nor your driving abilities to give you a clear and precise answer to your question.  We can give you a multitude of scenarios, but not state which, if any, pertain to your particular situation.

George Wallace said:

Theres no need to do any of that. There is only one scenario that applies here. His unit told him that he is to surrender his 404s. Whatever the reason or the end-result is neither here nor there.

Could be easily a Unit / Area or Base TPT SOP to have your 404's suspended until the investigation is complete.

Good day every one.
I thought I would post this here instead of starting a new thread.
I am looking for information about the ramp DDC endorsement for the 404. Specifically, if I don't have this endorsement, can I still operate a vehicle on the aprons and taxiways at an airbase? I would have thought that the answer would be a definite no, but I have gotten conflicting answers. I have gone so far as to ask the MP's here at 12 wing, but they weren't sure either. If anyone can tell me where I could look to find an answer, that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.
