Oh I know..  ^-^

Erich Topp was running the U-boat most of it's life.

Thanks for the information.

Now I need to scratch build the periscope. The Revell kit one is complete garbage.  ;)

The Game Plan!!

The detail kit. (It's finally here!) "Hurray!"

Nav Lights. They are some what painted, but I'm masking them off soon. So when it comes time to spray I won't over spray them. I decide to paint them now because it will be harder once model is built. I used Tamiya Acrylic X27 Clear Red and X-25 Clear Green.

Here is the start of the propellers.. It's going to take sometime before I get them up to what I want. I'm using my oil base paint on them. I'm thinking of buffing them up after. But since the "weathering" process will cover it up. So I'm not going all crazy over that.

Also on other note, I'm still farting about with the flood holes. It's one step after another. I keep getting deep into it.  ;D

Saddle Tanks.
Cut out the plastic area above the tanks.

Step1.jpg

Make supports inside for the tank.

Step2.jpg

Now to make sure the supports are even to the tank. The sheets are .4mm think, so I had to stack some up to even out/flush to the the plastic of the model. The model itself is 2.5 mm thick in most areas.

Step3.jpg

Now to fill in the crack from the scratch built part to the model. (I'm about to go back and finish it now. Just taking a break from the fumes, I guess.)  ;D

And a semi top view am at now.....

This is my attempt at the “Oil Canning” or Hull Buckle/Ripple effect. Basically use a #10 curved X-acto blade, tape and sand paper. Only problem I had was some bolts are now MIA. So now I have to replace those too.

This photo gave me the idea... Gato Class sub.

I think it's more noticeable in front of it. It's hard to capture on camera.

I"ll try some more shots in refer to the canning once I get the primer on.

The scratch built Pressure hulls... I"ll be adding more to it later.

Yes, it's a toliet paper roll, but it sure does the trick instead of what I wanted to at first.

Some more shots of the "canning effect"

I'm not done with the "roll" yet.  ;D

Doh!

Job ain't done till you're finished with the paperwork

Looks Great

I did the Flower Class Corvetter about a year ago. I backdated it to a short foc'sle corvette HMCS Arvida representing the winter 1942-43 period when it was first painted in its western aproaches scheme.

I found this website super helpful in providing detail scratch building instructions on how to properly turn the Revell kit into something halfway resembling a Canadian Escort vice a British one.

http://www.cbrnp.com/RNP/Flower/  have fun with it the U boat looks good

Was wondering what had happened to this project bee neat to see when it is finished .

Well it's Xmas leave and I"m sitting here back at the U-Boat.

I almost got the conning tower done. I"ve kit bash the handle lock and the ladder right beside the periscope tower. Sorry for the blurry pics, but it is all the camera could do.

A couple of questions about your camera:

Did you have "Auto Focus" on?

Do you have a "Macro" setting?

I know I had Macro on... and a for Auto Focus I think so too. I"m not much into cameras, but my wife is. I"ll try some more shots then. Wait out.
