Originally played on CBC three weeks ago. If no one noticed it . . . hmm, what was the major story three weeks ago that sucks all attention in the room?

Joint Press Conference following NATO Military Committee Chiefs of Defence meeting, 16 January 2025

Joint Press Conference by Admiral Rob Bauer, Chair of the Military Committee, General Christopher Cavoli, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, and Admiral Pierre Vandier, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, on the 192 nd Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session, 16 January 2025, Brussels.

What's the living conditions in Latvia like for Canadian soldiers these days?

Depends. The Battle Group is in the “hostels” and are 10 to a room give or take. The Arty Bn are in ISOs with about five to a room, and are going to move into something more permanent shortly. Base DFAC can’t keep up with the expansion so food for Canadians is provided at several other tents via catering, which is a massive upgrade for anyone who likes flavours. Gym is probably too small but the dorms / barracks / hostels have their own.

How does that compare to how the Latvian regulars live?

Has the food situation improved? we have all heard the horror stories of maggots in food, the boiled bacon and daily cases of food poisoning

Yeah the feeding tents are a massive improvement over the DFAC / base kitchen. Flavour and calories are way higher, probably we could do with less of the latter.
