A Deeply Fractured US

Is Biden's Stutter Being Mistaken for Cognitive Decline?

"Biden has spoken openly about his stutter, which he’s struggled with since childhood, only occasionally. Words beginning with “s” were particularly difficult when he was growing up, "
Sure, he has a stutter. He was able to overcome it. Now age is overcoming him. He'd be a real outlier if he wasn't experiencing cognitive decline with age - nearly everyone I know over mid-70s, and some who are a bit younger, have admitted to it.

People sure are determined to try to countermand common sense and human experience to defend Biden's every possible human weakness. All that does is accentuate their own irrationality. At least most of Trump's supporters admit he's a terrible human being who doesn't know much about any particular piece of domestic or foreign policy.

So that means Trump, at age 77, must also be suffering from cognitive decline. It would certainly explain some of the irrational things he says.
Undoubtedly. Among other things, he sure gets angry easily, but it's difficult to tell whether it's any worse than it was 4 or 5 years ago.

Why am I not surprised that you would find someone's childhood speech impediment funny?

You probably howled at the Chretien attack ad too.
Your lousy at making assumptions and attributing bullshit to people. Go ahead and bitch me out for not knowing about a speech impediment. In the mean time keep your ridiculous extrapolation and cheap shots, about something that never happened, to yourself. I don't care if you like me, but don't talk shit about me. You can get your point across without lying.

Funny how you're fine with slinging bullshit and lying, just not when it's aimed at you.

Don't bother replying, I'm done with this.

That’s an exceptionally bold claim given how cult-like a noticeable portion of his base is. Do you have some source you can cite saying that most of his supports in fact admit - or even believe - what you just said they do? That would be a very, very quiet majority if so.

No, I overstated. Pretty much every commentator I've read has at some point - and usually more than once - made the admission. That doesn't apply to the anonymous multitudes. I suppose there are a lot of people who can't see what is in front of their nose, and very few who would lie about it.

I would raise that to at least 65. Match it with most retirement qualifiers.

On another somewhat related issue some car rental agencies have also set a max age they are willing to rent a car to.

How about we add a maximum time to sit as an MP too. No more careers built in the HOC.

I know this is an American thread...

So if a particular constituency has an effective and well liked MP you'd limit voters rights to continue to elect that person as their representative?

CAF members typically experience physical decline as they get older due to both natural aging and wear and tear on their bodies. Maybe as they become less effective we should force them out to make room for younger, more able members and avoid them building a career in the CAF?

I know it's a silly comparison but I find it a little confusing when people complain about government overreach and overly socialistic systems turn around and want to impose arbitrary controls and limits to individual freedoms to correct a specific situation that THEY don't like.
