2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

Ohhh damn. They had to relocate one of Pierre's campaign rallies in BC because they didn't have high enough capacity.

But, but, but, he didn't get a security clearance šŸ˜’

The constant radio commercials that I keep hearing from the Liberals are emphatic that a vote for Mark Carney is a vote for ā€œchangeā€.

That takes an incredible amount of chutzpah to say that, when it is Trudeauā€™s former team behind Carney, it is all the same MPs and mostly the same policies (except those that they have stolen directly from the CPC).
I disagree. The policies of the Trudeau government were Trudeauā€™s policies. Not the MPs, not the cabinet, not the party ; Trudeau's. With Carney, we'd either get a liberal PMO where the policies are diverse, or another Liberal PMO where the policies are Carney's, which is to say different from Trudeau.

So Ian Bremmer, President and Founder Eurasia Group which has Diana Fox Carney (Spouse of the LPC Leader) Gerald Butts, Evan Solomon (declared Liberal Candidate) on the senior advisory board stating the following:

Canadian leaders have a political incentive to put up a bigger fight because Trumpā€™s threats toward Canadaā€™s economy and sovereignty have sharply inflamed nationalist sentiment north of the border in the run-up to the April 28 elections. However, I expect Ottawa will quietly fold shortly after the vote to ensure that ongoing relations with the US remain functional.

Is this the advice that Gerry, Evan, and Diana will give Mark to fold like a cheap suit once they win the election? Where is the "ELBOWS UP!" spirit?

If only he had some press types travelling with him so they could exploit that sort of awesome news.
If only the press receiving millions in federal funding had local reporters to go to these sorts of things... Oh well, guess we'd better vote LPC because they let friendly reporters hang out with them.

Except for those pesky people behind the curtain like Butts and Telford still whispering ears and pulling levers.

Nah the local gazette will certainly have that covered right?

If they're still around... CTV, CBC, Global, etc., at one time had newsrooms with reporters, to report on local stories outside of the few major regional centres. Most have shuttered the smaller newsrooms, and got rid of staff, all the while collecting money from the government.

At least to CBC's credit they did bring back some of the local news teams. Likely due to the justifiable fear that the CPC would win and get rid of them altogether, but regardless, they did bring back local news in smaller markets.

All this to say, I have zero sympathy for the legacy media when they whine about being not getting on the CPC plane, when they have been denying Canadians local news coverage for years.

Going to call it out now. Many of yu are going to say I am delusional.

Pierre Poilievre and the CPC will win this election. I can't tell if its going to be a minority or a majority government. Caution to my side, a minority government is shaky ground for the CPC.

I will cement my opinion later in this election run as to whether I think majority or minority.

There are 5 reasons why I say CPC win.

I will only share #1 for now is Mark Carney is terrible at speaking. To crowds, to the media, to anyone. Downright sucks.

Hate on me, folks, give 'er.
If there are four more reasons to come that are all relevant to the same topic, it would be premature to form an opinion or to respond based on just one of them.

Cheers man, impressive. Cheers. Lol

Oh I donā€™t have any sympathy either. But it seems like another goal on their own net thing again for the CPC. In their attempt to stick it to the media they are depriving themselves of tool they could be using to even the playing field.

Having seen reporters interact with PP, I suspect it's the smart call. The people who think he's making a mistake are the people who wouldn't have voted for him, and the "swing" voters likely don't really care.

To be honest, I don't think any party should be allowing reporters close access to their people on a constant basis. Political reporting these days is all about soundbites and "gotcha" stories, which are pretty much never in favour of the politician being quoted.

I see your CPC victory, and raise you:

Why? My methodology is beyond mortal comprehension.
