With the speculation of an upcoming federal election being called, maybe it's time for a dedicated thread.

So, first week in the hot seat and carney is going surfing, going skiing going to visit a couple of his globalist buddies in France and Britain.

I don’t think we'll see an election call, at least until he comes back.

Sorry Lumber...

But a few speeches on his way out of office IN NO WAY cancels out basically 10 years of blatant corruption that has left the country far worse off than when he became PM.
Especially if the Conservatives form government. I fully expect that once some things see the light of day and can no longer be hidden by trudeau or his agents, people are going to be charged and with luck, jailed. Trudeau should not be thinking he got away with everything and will be able to slip off to some island somewhere and be carefree the rest of his life.

I don’t know if it would hinder or help PP, but I'd seriously be looking at talking jail for those that stole millions from Canadians as part of my platform. Keep their crimes and Canadian disgust for liberals at a boiling point.

Anyone seen anything recent on how many candidates the CPC and LPC both have lined up and confirmed for the next election so far? I could see there being a bit of a scramble to get names in if Carney asks that the writ be dropped in the next week or two.

I didn’t catch numbers, but there was something on it the other day. I believe the Conservatives are pretty well flush and ready to go. The liberals are down more than a few candidates. Their rules though, allow for the appointment of candidates vice candidate runoffs. So a person could become a candidate pretty quick. I have no Idea what's going on with the NDP.

Edit: I found this. I don’t know how up to date it is, but you can count the empty spots.

I counted about 150 empty liberal ridings
Conservatives appear to be down about 40, mostly in Quebec.

I hope Poilievre lays off with the name calling. It sounds like American politics. Carney is giving him enough material work with.
Just let Carney keep speaking. He is dry, boring and feeble when he speaks, very uninspiring. Trudeau was much more dramatic and animated when he worked a crowd, Carney may know numbers much better than justin but Trudeau could have taught him how to work up a crowd.

No! Stop that. I don't want that Lock her up shit up here.

If someone does something questionable let the authorities investigate and prosecute, but do not bring it into our political process.

We need unity and healing and this is not that.

I agree with you Halifax, and I know where you're coming from. But I don't think this is that...

Canadians want accountability. So telling Canadians that's what they'll get is just that.

Having the people in the federal government be held accountable for awarding themselves huge contracts is something I think most Canadians can get behind.

...

But I do get the sentiment, and agree. Canadian news needs some positives and optimism, rather than more drawn out poli-drama

I'm all about accountability. I'm not about politicians running on a platform of locking up their opponents.

If that's not @Fishbone Jones meant then my apologies, I misunderstood.

Mark Holland announced he is not running.

Freeland offered transport, Miller and Duclos among ministers to be dropped from Carney’s new cabinet: sources - CTV 14 Mar 25

Extract: Among the ministers that are being dropped from cabinet are Public Services and Procurement Minister Jean-Yves Duclos, and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister Marc Miller, who is also a longtime close personal friend of Trudeau, according to sources.

CTV News has also learned Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Gary Anandasangaree is set to take on the role as justice minister – replacing Arif Virani, who has said he would not be running in the next federal election.
Another Ontario MP leaving is International Trade Minister Mary Ng, who confirmed to reporters that Monday’s cabinet meeting was her last.

And, sources say Rural Economic Development Minister Gudie Hutchings will not be in Carney’s cabinet.

Other current cabinet ministers who have said they aren’t seeking re-election are Canadian Heritage Minister Pascale St-Onge, Emergency Preparedness Minister Harjit Sajjan, Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay, and Women and Gender Equality and Youth Minister Marci Ien.

One minister who is set to be handed a new portfolio on Friday is Environment and Climate Change Minister Steven Guilbeault. Sources say his new portfolio will include biodiversity and heritage. Guilbeault is also expected to take on the responsibility of Quebec Lieutenant.

Also not confirming one way or another whether his role could be reconfigured is Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson.

The RCMP still never explained why they didn't even interview Trudeau during the SNC Lavalin crap. The Liberal and Conservative governments have progressively made sure they can avoid accountability.

The most justice Canadians will get is a politician deciding to spend more time with their family (until they're rescued like Mendicino).

It seems like Carney is cleaning house.

Calls for accountability are fine. No need to name individuals. People do need to be constantly reminded though, just how many billions of dollars this government has 'lost' through malfeasance, fraud and theft.

I wonder whether carney will release his new ministers mandate letters today?

I wonder if he moved Guilbeault, with a warning to stay in his lane, to keep him from bringing the carbon tax into the conversation.

Did Carney say he will remove the consumer carbon tax?

His history and new statements on this are all over the map. Here is what I expect to occur... He will remove the consumer carbon tax like I think he stated... and jump up carbon pricing on industry (again like he stated) who will in turn recover that increase in their rates or product costs. So you might see the "carbon tax" disappear from your utility bill, but probably will see a rate increase for example.

He said the consumer carbon tax, not the industrial one.
