2024 BC Election

Rustad also came out and said that he accepts the results. Now he has to focus on becoming an effective opposition.
I saw that. It was a clear and classy concession, and set an appropriate tone reinforcing the legitimacy of the electoral result. Unsurprisingly, there were a lot of smooth-brained takes when he posted it to Twitter. Like, Koala-brain smooth. There are a bunch of Canadians clearly eating up the nonsense that if their side loses, or if the closeness of the election delays projections until very last counts are done, it must have been fraud. It’s an ugly and destabilizing mentality.

BC getting a weird once you leave the major cities. Lots of “mountain folk” who watched Deliverance as a guide to how one should handle trespassers.

I'd much rather hang out with those BC 'mountain folks' than half the people I see lurching around the cities every day. Or many of my (batshit looney suburban) neighbours ;)

The worst ones are the city folk who watched too many episodes of “Duck Dynasty” or other red-neck reality shows and then move to the mountains to emulate them…

I guess we wait until after election day to learn about Eby's CCP advisor, or is Rebel News making it up?

I used to have to go to remote areas by myself as a government agent. A lot of it was how to present yourself to them. But there are people who you don't visit without two armed police officers in attendance. Generally I would scope out what group people fell into before going, by checking with the local enforcement officers whether municipal, provincial or Federal.
