Definitely always have a plan B; that is the reason most Ocdt's. go to civilian university since you gives you the opportunity to broaden your horizons with the life of a "normal" college student and still receive military training. On that note, if you think that just applying is stress image...
Extra-Curriculars are really important; especially if you're older.. Team-based / orientated clubs some community service. I do not know if you would end up going to RMC St. Jean for a prep year for you to become realigned with the "University education / Book Learning".
Not during BMOQ; during BMOQ-L they have started in G-town too funnel infantry candidates through in pure INF O Serials. From what I heard, it is only on average 10% physically more strenuous then other BMOQ-L. However, there was more "hands on learning" and a lot more bumps, pull-pulls and...
There was a young lady on another platoon a few years back that I knew, who weighed about 120 pounds but could ****ing ruck like there was no other. The more weight we piled on her, ( Ammo, water, a sandpack) the harder she went. Most of the guys had dropped out after 15km with about FFO (Flak...
For all those who are going infantry or want to be infantry; prepare for some pretty rigorous PT. Long-ruck marching, long distance running and a lot of bodyweight pyrometric workouts, (Push-ups, pull-ups and Up downs and planks.). Most of the lads on my TPs could crush a run 5k in 19 minutes...
CDN Aviator is right, you would have to apply through DEO (Direct Entry Officer). Don't take a blind leap of faith of you want to do Continuing Ed, I have friends that are doing it now and they dislike it. Simply put, if you want to party and live your life as a university student during your...
BMOQ is 15 weeks... Well actually its 15 weeks and a few days.. Also know a few people who started it early (Warrior Fitness).. They had a 17 week course.
Haha... I just remembered a really good one.. From an RCD Sergeant.. We are formed up in the Parade Square.
Sgt. "O.Cdt Bloggins, What is the role of the armoured?"
Officer Cadet. "To protect the sanctity and chastity of Infantry, Sergeant?!?"
Sgt. "By, God.. I think we have our next CLS!!."
YOU BRING YOUR KNEE THIS HIGH OFFICER CADET !!!!! FROM THE TOP.... I'M A BARBIE GIRL IN THE BARBIE WORLD!!
(While doing drill movements, in front of the platoon... Singing the song)
See you in Halifax alejo, I take it you'll be grouping up with the boys rolling out for CAP?
Also, regarding instructors wanting to kill "young little cute Officer Cadets", could not be more true ;D. I remember one specific Warrant tearing me a new one every time she spotted me. In the words...
I did not mean that sports teams are the only way, I just meant those are one of the routes. Cadets is an excellent example of an extracurricular that would look outstanding. In Cadets, you learn pretty much the first 4 weeks of BMOQ (Which is probably the reason they created Recruit Camp, since...
Dou You is right, keep going with your extra curricular activities. Your application will look more attractive with increase of Extra Curricular. However, remember they really take a long look at your marks.. All of them. Try to find a solid balance between both. The awesome thing about having...
Had a 46 year old on my BMOQ. Man was a champ.... Beat 1/2 our platoon in the PT test and we lost about 21 people for VRs, Medicals and RTU's out of 80.
From what I heard, you will be learning drill movements and doing some intense PT.
Drill movements will probably include:
-Drill on the March
-Timings of the movements
Etc...
Everything up too Weapons Drill which will be taught at BMOQ. I heard the PT was pretty rough also, a-lot of push-ups...
Gain, you'll gain the protein boost that you need your for your muscles to regenerate and with the added bonus on not gaining any fat. Lean and BEASTLY :P.
