U.S. Annexing Canada (split fm Liberal Minority thread)

Has it perhaps occurred to you that the nice guy diplomacy method has not worked and we are now at a critical juncture?
On the contrary, business is nice guy diplomacy. Actual statemanship requires tactics, strategy, and the self control not to swing first (but damn well finish the fight in a manner to make the bully think twice).

My opinions on the matter are the same for Trump, Biden, Trudeau, and yet to be founded on Mr. Poilievre.

Ha, yeah statesmanship has worked so well, look at us now. I guess Trump, and those giving him NATSEC briefings, have determined the situation is bad and time is now short. The choice will be to get on board or get run over.

Read my posts again, really think on it. Work that comprehsion for me before you react...

I am saying none of the leaders in the past decade have shown any real statesmanship, I'll give a thin nod to Obama, but I am debating on that even myself.

It has been words, dialogue, negotions, sanctions and "red-lines": all of them. That isn't statesmanship, its business. Its great amongst friends, but doesn't work with BRICS countries and we'refinally waking up to that.

I guess Trump, and those giving him NATSEC briefings, have determined the situation is bad and time is now short.
So did the advisors in the bunker. I'm certain they weren't telling the Fürher to wait out for Steiner....

He can have the best advisors, if he listens to them is another matter all together.

The choice will be to get on board or get run over.
Damn the follow on effects? Lee-Roy Jenkins Foreign Policy?

Do you believe Trump said white supremacist's as fine people?
You also had some very fine people on both sides," Trump said in 2017. "You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down, of to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name. You had people -- and I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists; they should be condemned totally -- you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists."

And here you said a few posts above that no one said we should just roll over for him…

It is possible to not roll over and still do the right thing.

If you think Canada acting in it's own national interests is rolling over for the Donald, then you do you and enjoy the ride.

Has he actually been getting classified NATSEC and foreign intelligence briefings as of yet? I recall that being an aspect of the transition that remained up in the air a while back. And if so, from who?

Acting in our own self interests may mean telling Trump to pound sand at some point. There is common ground up to a point. We’ll see how much he wants to flex.

You do you. I expect you cheerleading Trump over Canada so no surprise.

Ford and PP seem to get it. They are on the right track with their positions on this. If you are on board with them then we have no quarrel on the approach to humouring and placating Trump.

Check your news sources. You're getting fed a bunch of lies.
Did he, or did he not say “stand back and stand by” prior to J6?

It’s hilarious having people say “it was all lies” when some people, like me, were watching the entire thing unfold via livestream that day. Remember - most of us were still WFH so in between (or during) Teams meetings, I had that on.

But sure, I won’t believe my lying eyes.
