U.S. Annexing Canada (split fm Liberal Minority thread)

They're too busy holding off the emus to invade Canada.
One hopes the "Lessons Learned" documents are still around, right?
... As with pretty much everything he says, it’s Schrödinger’s Trump - he “tells it how it is”, but also he’s just kidding.
Don't forget "that's not what he REALLY meant" or "you KNOW what he meant."
The “Annex Canada” and 25% tariff BS was, in large part, due to what Trump described as the Fentanyl crisis in the CAN / US border ...
... not to mention this (source):

Australia does not have a border with the US.

To add: The “Canada / Australia” comparisons aren’t apples and oranges, especially when it comes to the CAF and the ADF. Our entire geopolitical situations are completely different - they know they have to be self-sufficient for the first 48 hours or so before the allies can help them. We do (or did) not.

Apologies, to clarify I meant any extant discussion on Annexation not specifically Trump's rhetoric.

Canada is unnecessarily worse off than Australia. It doesn't have to be, but it is because of internal choices.

How much Australian news do you consume?

I keep a bit of a finger on the pulse there. Several of their mines and at least one major port (Darwin, which happens to be across the bay from a RAN base and close to where the USMC does their rotations) is owned or leased to China. It’s not exactly a secret.

Several surveys of healthcare systems in the developed world have shown that both the Canadian and American systems are the absolute worst in the developed world in terms of cost and outcomes.

It’s clear that this debate comparing our healthcare systems is stupid. It’s like arguing what’s a better car: a Trabant or a Lada.
If I could live in a perfect world, I’d pick the sweet lines of a Trabant, with the reliable, underpowered mosquito killer Lada engine…

That is hilariously rich coming from someone who, just yesterday, publicly (well, as public as this is) called for the annexation of Canada by a foreign country.

As @Remius said yesterday - definitely a collaborator.

Your LPC/NDP party? Yes they are collaborators and traitors.

Decades ago, when they were first being sold in Canada, I half expected to see Lada use an intentional misquote from Khrushchev as its slogan…”We will carry you.

I remember going to the Ottawa Auto Show, ages ago, and they had a Lada Samara (Sport Coupe 😂) on a turntable display. I can tell you that I’ve smelled horse sweat sweeter than the inside of that car. There was also a gap on the left side of the closed deck lid large enough to throw a cat through, from some distance away, while the right side had one mother of an overbite. I couldn’t imagine what the other ones looked like on the lot, if this was the “showstopper” they picked to display…

My brother in law purchased one right after getting out of high school. There were so many flaws, breakdowns and bad engineering designs that he got rid of it very quickly.

Nevermind there is zero history of senators and congressmen being bought off. It's strictly a Canadian issue and strictly left of centre.
Spare everyone.

The critical issue at hand, in Canada, is the current PM knew there was CCP influence/interference and did nothing. It can be assumed the reason he did nothing is because he and his party benefitted.

Agreed. I have to believe that if the list was rife with Conservatives he would have released the names tout suite.

I don't think the current PM is capable of acting in a manner that wont benefit him, no matter the greater consequences.

I don’t necessarily agree with you that it benefits him so much financially. Rather I think he is predisposed to the belief that totalitarian leftist (but not right wing) governments work for the benefit of all. And I see the PMO, as an extension of him, working to make it the same in Canada. I believe he is incapable of thinking outside the little box he has encased himself in. So throw him out of office (legally) and send a message to all other politicians, hopefully scaring them that Canada and Canadians must come first.
