Well, since Canada will be the 51st state and all…I’m just pre-empting my pronouns

There are a lot of rich/powerful people having a lot of pretty mediocre kids. They may want to think very hard about just how firmly they want to see strict merit criteria entrenched in policies. That could swing around and backfire on portions of the nepo-baby caste.Poll on if Canada should become the 51st US state

What are the chances that there will be a convenient “alumni” or “donor” clause? There are a lot of rich/powerful people having a lot of pretty mediocre kids. A bit of context on that too - the Yale lawsuit (that was dropped in the Biden admin) basically stated that Asian and white students had a quota.A little context.
Is that bad though? Should high performing Asian students get rejected while mediocre Indian students get accepted?my bet is that Yale, etc will see Asian admissions go through the roof, at the expense of the other ethnicities.
I personally think it’s fine, but I’m guessing that at least some of those complainants aren’t Asian and will get Pikachu-faced when they (or their kids) also don’t get in because there are a bunch of highly-qualified Asian kids.Is that bad though? Bit of a thread throwback but I saw this (article came out 06 Dec):Not really. Lots of Canada doesn’t include fluoride in drinking water anymore.
Want to guess, for example, what municipalities in British Columbia add fluoride?
Fort St.John, Terrace and Cranbrook…yup, that’s it. No Vancouver, not Victoria, Kamloops, Kelowna, Campbell River, etc. etc. etc. etc.
I suppose if CAF members were posted there, they could ask for fluoride treatment…
Fluoride: Which B.C. communities add fluoride to water?
Fort St. John, Cranbrook and Terrace are the only communities in British Columbia that currently add fluoride to tap water. Read more about the history of fluoridation in British Columbia.www.watermatters.ca
Based on the rotating door syndrome during POTUS45 days, it'll still be interesting to see how long his varied array of cabinet ministers and other senior positions last in their posts.
President Trump’s cabinet is more white and male than any cabinet since Ronald Reagan’s.
This isn’t really new. People living on well water tend to have more dental issues.Bit of a thread throwback but I saw this (article came out 06 Dec):
This city took fluoride out of the water. Now it’s putting it back in
Calgary, which has endured ten years of worsening dental health and is reversing its decision, is a cautionary tale for Robert F Kennedy Jrwww.thetimes.com
Way to shaft, specifically, one of the classic "pursuit of happiness/Rockwellian American Dream" models: striving immigrant family manages exponential improvement for the kids through hard work, more hard work, and doing your AP homework in the restaurant/store/whatever....rather than work to help out the family.
A fractal post! Awesome!Useless criticisms.
…but not enough of a setback that he will step aside and let Chrystia Freeland act as PM until the election…Our person Trudeau sticking it to Trump.
Trudeau says Kamala Harris's election loss was a setback for women's progress
To be fair, if he did that it would be pulling a Mulroney and setting her up like Kim Campbell.…but not enough of a setback that he will step aside and let Chrystia Freeland act as PM until the election…
That’s negative thinking. We’ve seen the sacrifices that Freeland has made for Canada, and I think some people would give even more than just cancelling Disney+ to have Freeland take Trudeau’s feminism to a new level…To be fair, if he did that it would be pulling a Mulroney and setting her up like Kim Campbell.
