Trudeau Popularity - or not (various polling, etc.)

Find the $15 Billion in payments of CERB etc during the COVID times. Recover the money FFS.
Most of it probably either got funnelled offshore by organized crime or is simply spent and gone. They could still go after people to try to recover it, but lots of it is probably blood from a stone at this point.

Though by all means, if they can find recoverable assets to recoup fraud, go for it. There’s probably a lot more money to be made going after illegal offshore tax dodges and forfeitures for major money laundering, given how rampant that is.

Meanwhile, at CRA....

Enforcement notifications: compliance actions

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) advises the media of cases of people, corporations, and trusts convicted in the courts for tax evasion. The information released to the media is available to the public since it is derived strictly from court records and not from confidential information held by the CRA.

ESDC and CRA knows where the CERB, EI-ERB and CESB overpayments went. Only the CESB overpayments that went to foreign students (United Front Work Department et al.) is likely unrecoverable. The remainder is available to recover at the will of the Government. The system knows the overpayments. Debit an overpayment recipient’s CRA account with the overpayment amount and have them pay it along with their taxes when they file them.

I hope turnout isn’t this low for the next federal election.

Looks like a CPC win, but so few people have voted in the by-election that it seems almost pointless to have held it.

I forgot the Cloverdale - Langley City byelection in BC is happening today. LPC held seat definitely flipping Conservative.
You know what $20 billion extra gets you.... significantly closer to 2% GDP for Defence 😎
"Best I can do is randomly cut $1 billion"

I have yet to get any, any, sense the PP is willing to spend the right amount, whatever that amount may be, on our defense capabilities. He hasn't even gone on record as agreeing to Canada meeting the 2% requirement.
He's committed to continuing the spending increases and has stated since 2022 that they would increase funding by cutting other federal expenses.

The money to significantly increase Defence/National Security spending is already there:

$102 Billion earmarked in this years budget for "Other Transfer Payments" which is broken down further here in to a nice table:

"Other Transfer Payments" aka Government sanctioned corruption & money redistribution schemes.....

Globe and Mail particularly vicious this morning.

Opening paragraph from Robyn Urback

"If you squint and use a little imagination, you can see the pile of brains sitting outside the cabinet room on Parliament Hill. That pile has been sitting there for nearly a decade, heavy with the organs of the men and women who hold some of the most powerful positions in Canada’s government. These ministers have been expected to remove them from their skulls before they enter the room, so the vacant space in their heads can be filled with nonsense directly from the Prime Minister’s Office."

That’s a direct shot at the PM and his gang

It’s in the hands of Jagmeet Singh and Liberal Caucus members…
I think the electorate and Liberal Caucus are definitely listening to that character assassination.

If the G&M, an LPC friendly news establishment, is roasting your boss; you might need to log into LinkedIn and start polishing up your CV.

As long as the Parliamentarians are getting at least three times the salary of an average citizen, why vote themselves out of a job.

Next government, freeze political salaries for 3 years, and if you want to, get rid of the lemon slice in their water and the photographers who peaks out behind the Speaker.

Add, among other many other tidbits the PM's personal photographer and videographer.
