I still believe the large NATO exercise just before Russia launched their massive assault was to draw NATO troops in where Putin would have used non conventional weapons to attempt to disable/ take out a large portion of equipment on European land.
That's my feeling on the matter.

Only one i could think of is Cold Response 22, that one involved over 30k troops but that was in March of 22 it started, one month after Russia invaded Ukraine.

You're suggesting that Putin was behind planning a NATO exercise so that Russia could launch a preemptive NBC strike against the concentrated NATO forces prior to the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine so that NATO wouldn't have sufficient forces remaining in Europe to oppose his invasion?
