Despite a lot of doom and gloom (myself included) about a Trump47 Presidency, I think Russia is going to end up making him into a second Reagan.

With all the doomsaying, that's how he plays hardball. Ukraine doesn't want to talk? Aid cut off. Rus doesn't want to talk? The garbage drip of aid is over and that decimal place and weapon restrictions move/are removed.

Oh the tools are there, and for all his plusses and minuses, we know DJT's willing to use tools to get a DEAL deal.

To use a cited example, Reagan told Gorbachev out loud & in public to tear down the wall, and was standing behind that call. He didn't say "both of you keep what you have, consider yourselves lucky to have that, and sort it out, just don't bother us about it - Europe'll keep a grip here."

While USSR 2.0 has said they don't like the latest version of the deal, they've also said "we're still listening," so we'll continue to see what unfolds.

Always happy to be mistaken, given I'm pretty pro-UKR on this one, but public info on the proposed deal/deals so far (and if we believe soc media policy posts, I'll believe statements on proposed deals on UKR, too - even if they're opening gambits) leave me less-than-fully optimistic. I trust some of the voices expressing optimism, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed
