The vibe shift, end of "wokeness"?

As the kids would say, he understood the assignment.
Last bit of not-vibe shift off-topic 😆 The driver is probably a rarity these days. Many trucks are converting to automatics (air-shifted manuals). In my early CF years I got my ON AZ over leave one summer almost as a lark, but good for appreciating heavy equipment. Learning rig was a late-80s International 9300 with Cummins Big Cam 855 and a Fuller 13-speed. It gave me an appreciation of seeing guys like in the video, doing the work in near-seamless perfection.

Quite right.

And I credit the newer generation of NCOs with being the main effort in leading this shift as they realized that the 'older and bolder' were basically full of crap and decided it was time for a change ;)

You mean those of us that joined in the 80's? usually don't think of us as the newer generation but nice to have the recognition for our efforts. it was a bit nerve racking facing possible drummed up charges and booting from the military by standing with our friends against the system. The more we stood the more things slowly changed. CFAO 19-20 was eventually removed from the books in 1992 after a court challenge by several members.

I don't think people really understand how far back things go. In the early 80's I went to an employment office to see about a training course they ran to help people get employment. the woman told me they no longer run it. As I was leaving I met a friend and she mentioned she was going in for the course. We walked back together and when she asked the same woman directed her to a room down the hall where they would register her. Naturally I asked why she told me they no longer run the course. Answer of course was - we only run it for women. leaving I noticed a sign they had - lots of words that boiled down to if you were anything besides a white male you qualified for special assistance and programs. Woke policies didn't just start recently, they just didn't have the media/social attention they do now.

RBC quits UN-backed Net-Zero Banking Alliance

RBC has quit the UN-backed Net-Zero Banking Alliance, leaving none of Canada's Big Six banks represented in the group.

Canada's largest bank confirmed the move Friday, saying it has the tools and capabilities to implement its climate strategy and measure its performance.

That’s either money-based logic or a big middle finger to Carney…or both, maybe?

They were the last hold out so I assume they were planning on leaving anyways, especially since our Chief Virtue Signaler stepped down from the PM's job...

We had one of those Alliance posters at work telling us how to conform to the wishes of the alphabet community.

It has been removed. BUT our transgender person is causing friction. Can't work with some inmates as they tease him and now has tennis elbow.

SO pod bound and NOT fun to work with.

Since when do we do 'seriously' around here? ;)

... The lack of data savvy prevents DEI officers from shifting the needle in the right direction. Instead, the DEI efforts results in distrust and dissent.

Respectfully snipped and bolded by me.

Sure they do. Can't count how many times I've heard chatter about people who achieved their rank or position only because of their sex and not merit. Unfortunately, there's a lot of people who jump to that conclusion (and aren't afraid to 'voice' their opinion). As soon as a hardworking female achieves anything, there's a whole lot of folks out there who default to "who'd she screw?" back then and that's now turned into "DEI hire!!" I even had a few say it to my face.

I used only my initials and the "She/Elle ...." in my siggy block as a Fmn CWO, but the usual response etc would most times still come back with "Sir". No skin off my ass really and I never corrected them. Attention to detail. I got a kick out of follow up phone calls when they'd choke finding out I was a female ... or when meeting face to face. LOL. Nothing to hold a grudge over, but entertaining.

"OMG, she's a girl!" ... Army week. Go figure.

It’s also a problem I’ve noticed with some of the female soldiers in my unit. I recently nominate a few to something and the first thing they asked was if it was te cause they were women. No. It’s because they were two of our stronger members given what was being asked for. Not sure I was able to convince them of that despite my best efforts.

Coincidentally ;)

If you've read the internet lately, do you wonder why that was their first question?

I will speak from experience on 'the bling' -- we DID have quotas for "women" on the last round of Jubliee ~ IIRC around 2012ish (time flies and all that jazz). Due to my position at the time, I got to participate in boards after initial nominations. I had already made my wishes very, very clear, that I wanted a non-positive number of people to submit my name as I disagreed with the 'criteria', the quotas and would refuse it anyway. I'm a red head, they laughed but knew I was serious. So if one did work very hard to get where they were (IMO, I did work very hard to get where I was), but happened to also be female then the 'doubt' about meriting them was always and will always be there.

That's why I'm totally dead set against gimmes and commemoratives: either give them to everyone or give them to no one.

YOU may know why you nominated your deserving females, but assumptions are always made by those who don't know her from Adam or know her history. The doubt will always be there for anyone who observe her medals because quotas as to sex were built in to the criteria. It's a crying shame. The 'woke' system itself made to certain to ensure that 'doubt' happens. And, I am also quite certain that some deserving males did not get one because the male:female ratio in the particular Unit was skewed (hello Army!) so that most women serving in that Unit did get one. They ain't all the most "awesome" workers. Pendulums and all that.

Opinions may vary. I'm OK with that. Just understand that we women make our decisions -to go with our initials or "Vern" instead of our feminine first names - oft times - precisely because of our sex and self-protectionism ... in my case not because of the males I worked with and for but because of those males who just can't get over that bridge of "sex" - oftentimes the very same ones who profess about sex "not mattering". The ones who really don't care about sex are the ones who don't bring it up and certainly don't bitch about it. The guys I worked with knew I worked my ass off. They're who I give a shit about.

Because I joined the RegF in the 80s and just retired within the last year, oh the stories I could tell. Ones like my Operation Honour violation about that medal above when I told my 17 fellow MWOs in the room and the RSM (all males BTW) at the unit I was at that I had enough medals, that my rack was bigger than my chest and that didn't want another until the CAF bought me a chest to pin it on like they would buy for others. Of course, that was before Operation Honour ... but I'm still waiting for that chest.

YMMV. IMO. BTDT. Be done with the gimmes.

Edited because I can't friggin type today.

Ending domestic violence seems like a better message to remind players at the end zone.
Both are good messages and lessons to learn.

My bestie is black. The only (many) times in my life that I have been shadowed in stores while shopping etc, has been when I am with her. In Halifax. Latest being last month when I was in Halifax to visit her. Safe to state with certainty that it happens to her far more often. She has more free cash to spend than I do.

Profiling is a problem. Racism is still a problem. Domestic violence is a problem.

Best to at least experience walking a mile in their shoes as the saying goes before writing anything off as unnecessary.

100% the truth......it's actually mind blowing, to someone of similar 'time frame' as you, that they actually hand out medals on perhaps the criteria of just existing. Might as well hand out arcade tokens, at least they're useful.

Just be clear this was not anything medal related but your point still stands.
