Can anyone tell me if exchange postings for pilots to the US are tough to come by? Do you need a certain number of hours generally? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'm currently doing OJT, starting PFT in March 2012.
They're certainly not just giving them away. If you excel at your first tour, upgrade fast, get supervisor flying positions, etc - you might be in a position for an OUTCAN exchange for a second tour. Most likely it will be your third flying tour. Fighter guys can get OUTCAN after one completed tour at a guns unit. It also depends heavily on what community you are from and which tours are coming up - they won't make up a position for you, it has be available.
