Parental Leave and your CD

Does the time you take off for Parental/Maternity Leave count towards you CD?

Yes, this changed in the mid/late 90s.

Yes it now counts towards your CD because you pay back your pension for the LWOP time.
You must opt out of NOT paying back the time now. Changed in 1996 I believe....just after I returned from Mat Leave.

Time taken off for parental leave has no impact on your time served towards your CD.  It does not effect the length of your contract either - it is pensionable.  I am taking the full time off as a Dad and will have no ill effects from doing so.  I am still obtaining seniority in my IPC and Flying Pay.
