I always find this attitude interesting. I think deep down that many Regular Force are a bit intimidated by Reservists.

Most of our soldiers in the Reserves have or are in the process of attaining a University degree. Those more senior usually have interesting careers and don‘t depend upon the Army for our livelihood, but do it out of a pure love for soldiering. I think most Regular soldiers find this disturbing. One of the first questions I‘m always asked when I work with the Regular Army is "What‘s your civvie job?".

Also that in most cases, Reservists have proven themselves extremely capable over the last few years, and would have thought this kind of debate was behind us. Ah well. Maturity was never the Army‘s strong suit.

Cheers!
