Just a thought ;

Would it be possible or necessary to compile a cheat sheet for civilians of common military terms and abbreviations that could be printed off.

I am suggesting this because my wife is always asking me to translate into civilian language some of whats posted here.

I know there is a military definition site but half the abbreviations posted here are not in the military definition site.

I wouldn't mind having a cheat sheet, I had to start learning how to read military terminology all over again.

Sounds good to me. I would like to have one, for more knowledge before I join.

There is a thread on the subject.

http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/23931.0.html

heavily edited because the poster is seriously starting to over-step his bounds in terms of language and direction.

:)

It could be a place to add acronyms that aren't in the dictionary.

I was looking for SLT and it give me Sub-Lieutenant. Then I hit search and
found out it was Second Language Training... Which I've could have  understand,
had I read more carefully the first thread on the topic I was reading, sight...

Edit: thanks for the link, even if STL ain't in the acronym page, it may be in the wiki :)

That's why you are an "Army.ca Veteran" and I am just a " Jr. Member"  Through time much knowledge will be learned. I will try to be more vigilant

FYI - I am in the process of printing of the six pages of Abbreviations and Acronyms that our military has adopted. Should this be considered a third language  ;D

YES!

What about emailing them to me, if you can scan them one day ?

Yrys,

Thanks for adding all those acronyms to the database!

Cheers
Mike

Well, now that I added a few acronyms on the dictionary,
you will have to change some numbers :)...

''Military Term #499 of 559''

Yeah, I had to approve all those terms you added! They're all done now, thanks!

:)

I should have guessed that you had an approval system :)!

Sorry for some double that I added.

I hope that you had fun with the ''D'' letter  ;D !
