Funny how some reports refer to the security guard as a common-law wife, and others as an "acquaintance". That's less than a friend.

Police say two men who allegedly sneaked into the Calgary Zoo and were injured by a tiger had been drinking and may have wanted to surprise a friend working there that night.

I don't recall seeing this posted elsewhere, but it is a story about what happened when a pet chimp named Travis went ape earlier this year. His mother also had to be shot dead back in 2001 during a rampage. The banana doesn't fall far from the tree.
Goes to show why such animals belong in zoos:

Usain Bolt adopts world's fastest feline

The world's fastest man has adopted the animal kingdom's fastest sprinter, as Usain Bolt welcomed a new baby cheetah named "Lightning Bolt" into his life.

The Jamaican sprinter's sponsorship of the three-month-old male cheetah is part of an effort to boost Kenyan conservation efforts of its famous wildlife, whose survival is threatened by trophy hunting, climate change and human encroachment.

The world record-holder in the 100 and 200 metres paid $13,700 to formally adopt the cub on Monday. He will also pay $3,000 a year to care for Lighting Bolt, who will be raised at an animal orphanage in Nairobi.

The money will go to the Kenya Wildlife Service, and some will be used to protect Kenya's endangered species, KWS director Julius Kipngetich said.

Just how long did this woman get "mauled"? 

Moe, it was this case that I posted just above.
Here is Wikipedia:
"On February 16, 2009, Travis attacked Sandra Herold's friend Charla Nash, age 55, inflicting grave injuries to her face and limbs. Travis had left the house with Harold's car keys, and Nash came to help get the animal back in the house; upon seeing Nash, Travis immediately attacked her. Travis was familiar with Nash, who had also worked at the Herolds' towing company, although Nash had a different hair style at the time of the attack. Earlier in the day, Herold may have given Travis the anti-anxiety drug Xanax in a cup of tea because he had been acting anxious; the ape had also been taking medication for Lyme disease. Herold, then 70 years old, attempted to stop Travis by hitting him with a shovel and stabbing him with a butcher knife; however this did not stop the attack. She then called 9-1-1 and gave a desperate plea for help to stop Travis from killing Nash. Emergency medical services waited for police before approaching the house. Upon arriving, Travis walked to the police car and tried to open the passenger door, smashing the side-view mirror. Unable to get it open, the chimpanzee went around to the driver's-side door and opened it, at which point the police officer shot him several times. Travis retreated to the house, where he was found dead inside his cage.
Injuries to Nash were described as "horrendous" by the emergency crew. Within the following 72 hours, she underwent more than seven hours of surgery on her face and hands by four teams of surgeons; because of the nature of the injuries, the hospital provided counseling to its staff members who initially treated her. Paramedics noted she lost her hands, nose, eyes, lips, mid-face bone structure, and received significant brain tissue injuries. Doctors were able to successfully reattach her jaw, but announced on April 7, 2009 that Nash would be blind for life. Her injuries made her a possible candidate for an experimental face transplant surgery. After initial treatment at Stamford Hospital, Nash was transferred to the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio."

Wow, forget an arm.  These retards are lucky one arm was the only casualty.  If the tiger was angry it could have killed them both very easily.  One strike to the head and their necks would have snapped. 

I can't believe anyone is that stupid.  Shocking.
