LPC leadership race - 2025

I refuse to join ANY political party. Once you're in you're handcuffed. Toe the party line or else...

A fiscal conservative and somewhat socially liberal, I believe one has a right to self determination and do what one wants - within reason.

The Liberal Party of Canada is named incorrectly.
You can quit at any time.

Carney wins in a blowout. 85% of the vote in the first round. He'll be the new PM and will lead the LPC into the new election, hopefully soon.

Freeland came in second at about 8%, Gould and Baylis at about 3% each.

This was only ever a coronation disguised as a choice. Courage would dictate that he face the electorate immediately. You want a mandate? Prove it!
Well, his speech is basically a campaign speech.

He’s just said he’ll idately cancel the consumer carbon tax on individuals, and small and medium businesses, and also that he’s going to cancel the increase to capital gains taxes.

Now pivoted to talking about fending off Trump, and speaking to Canadian solidarity. Giving a shout out to the provinces stepping up.

Carney’s now taking shots at Poilievre. Opened right up with the ‘life-long politician who’s never had to make a payroll’ line. Taking a variety of pretty wide and shallow swipes at him.

Now he’s moved on to speaking of taking advantage of well governed private sector markets to build economic strength- takes the opportunity to emphasize that he has worked private sector and that Poilievre has not.

OOF. “Donald Trump wants to divide us and conquer. Pierre Poilievre will divide us, and leave us ready to be conquered.” (I may have slightly missed a few words).

Talking about our government spending less so Canadians can invest more; becoming “an energy superpower in both clean and conventional energy”…

Powerful speech, well delivered, hitting core Liberal planks but also talking very pragmatically and reaching out across Canadians. With the tone of this speech, I don’t think it’ll be very long at all before the writ is dropped. And if this speech is indicative of how Carney will campaign, it’ll be one hell of an election.

Are we buying any new tanks yet, How are AD or Anti-tank weapons? Any word on replacing and expanding our artillery?
What about subs? Anything about expanding our recruitment? Planes? Ships?

But Freeland is a fighter and was going to fight for Canada, what happened?
She’s agreed to take a spot in Carney’s future cabinet. Assuming that happens.

I’m looking forward to a real race. I suspect the CPC will still win but a minority situation is a very real possibility now.

The Liberal Party of Canada has learned nothing, the only question that remains is have Canadians learned anything?

I would like to think that Canadians have but I suspect I will be disappointed by Canadians and I expect to continue to be disappointed by Canada as a nation and as a state due to the actions of the Liberal Party and those who vote for it.

Your kidding, right? He was weak and feeble on that stage. Donald Trump will destroy this man, Pierre will demolish him in leadership debates and the youth of this nation (under 45 crowd) have total dislike for him. He is way more out of touch than Trudeau was. Carney is gonna get slaughtered in the federal election. You can't see that coming?

Its been coming up alot lately that the over 60 crowd (and the last CBC news audience on TV) are the largest supporters.

We Did Starz GIF by Run The World

Let me add something about "career politician" Pierre

Pierre, won his riding in 6, yes 6 federal elections (How is that not democracy?)

Carney, the temp PM, has won his seat in how many federal elections? Ohhhhhh.
