Carney’s now taking shots at Poilievre. Opened right up with the ‘life-long politician who’s never had to make a payroll’ line. Taking a variety of pretty wide and shallow swipes at him.
Now he’s moved on to speaking of taking advantage of well governed private sector markets to build economic strength- takes the opportunity to emphasize that he has worked private sector and that Poilievre has not.
OOF. “Donald Trump wants to divide us and conquer. Pierre Poilievre will divide us, and leave us ready to be conquered.” (I may have slightly missed a few words).
Talking about our government spending less so Canadians can invest more; becoming “an energy superpower in both clean and conventional energy”…
Powerful speech, well delivered, hitting core Liberal planks but also talking very pragmatically and reaching out across Canadians. With the tone of this speech, I don’t think it’ll be very long at all before the writ is dropped. And if this speech is indicative of how Carney will campaign, it’ll be one hell of an election.
