Glad I'm not paying into any insurance or reimbursement funds anymore.
More fun was the serial fraudster recently murdered in Toronto, and the string of lawyers who worked along with him.
(I suspect the various Crowns who dropped multiple charges are getting pointed questions right about now... unless he was a CI, in which case the multiple dropped charges make sense)

The lawyer in this case is almost incidental to her mother - fraud, faked indigenous identity - but is still a fascinating tale. Sentencing for the mother for her most recent fraud is tomorrow.

He’s been suspended for a while, but I guess the full disbarment goes through some sort of panel within the court system or something. Just long timelines for due process to be seen through.

A well-know BC lawyer was to appear before the bar to explain over $20M in trust account shenanigans. "It alleges millions of dollars in Canadian and U.S. funds were mismanaged and that Bolton should have known more about funds' use in relation to a list of individuals, identified by a single initial only, some of who were facing criminal investigations or had entered guilty pleas for crimes such as money laundering or distributing misbranded prescription drugs for the foreign market." Michael Bolton, KC, apparently passed away last month, so the citation has been rescinded.
