Who did Trump promise not to pardon?
The President really has no power other than to sign bills. There is no constitutional right to Executive Orders and half the shit that Presidents have been doing for decades. The issue is the House and Senate aren’t doing their jobs and calling the President out on it.The author makes the case that the US presidency has all the powers that the British monarchy had at the time of the revolution. Since then, the monarch’s powers have increasingly been taken over by Parliament. The President’s powers have increased significantly in that time period.

Nixon was never formally charged. He resigned before the charges came. Ford pardoned him.
Nixon isn't "mass". I already knew about his case. Who are the "masses"?
Rumours from politicians and staffers are cheap and often fact-free. Speculators are not attaching enough weight to the widespread belief - rightly or wrongly - that accepting a pardon is de facto admission of guilt. Most of the people who are being suggested for pardons value their reputations.
