Income Tax and Alternatives

With the upcoming election, one wonders how the members feel about income taxes and alternatives? I personally like Mr. Campbell's idea of a flat consumption tax, and doing away with income tax altogether. I believe that income tax is an outmoded means of generating revenue for government, and that a flat consumption tax would be the best way to go. Short term pain for long term gain so to speak.

A caveat for those who are self employed in that it is based upon the current GST system of deduct what you expend prior to remission, and tax rebates for a minimal median average, be it weekly, monthly, or quarterly.

What say you?
