This incident and the one below has given me a bad taste in my mouth about the Lethbridge Police Service.

May the 4th. Also known as Star Wars Day (May the 4th Be With You...) I won't bother going into too much of a rant on this, as the video taken of the incident speaks for itself
But what I wouldn't have given to have been sitting beside the kid who took the video when Cst. Dinglenuts went on his little power trip infront of the crowd. Like it actually pains me...
As stupid as the Stormtrooper incident was, my opinion of the Lethbridge Police Service being a swamp compared to any other police service I've interacted with personally or professionally stems from worse than that...
Hiring a guy who dealt drugs in high school, and had been dealing steroids at Lethbridge College only a year or two prior to his application.
(Had already been deferred from another agency AND Lethbridge, but pursued remedies to change the notes/intel they had relied on during the hiring process & got himself hired the next time around. And that's just the beginning of stories about that guy...)
Or a senior constable who worked in their financial crime section who blatantly fabricated an entire case against someone who had just been trying to do the right thing.
Fabricated his notes and reports, manipulated witnesses, harassed the hell out of the 'suspect', intimidated other witnesses, and took a very personal initiative & interest in destroying the life of the guy he framed (to be perfectly blunt)
(And when I say he harassed the subject & certain witnesses, I'm talking about 30-40 phone calls PER DAY using different phones from around the station, calling apps, masked numbers, etc)
Did this genuine sociopath ever get even a slap on the wrist? Nope, he got promoted!
The list goes on. And on. And on...
There's a reason why they aren't the Lethbridge Regional Police Service anymore...the stank of that swamp is uniquely potent with that service

That was an embarrassing event for Lethbridge Police.
That’s, uh… Pretty criminal sounding.
It is, isn't it?
I have a hard time not writing lengthy posts about specific incidents when it comes to that service...
But as the popular saying goes, it's not what you know, it's what you can prove. And this being a public forum and all, I can't really prove any of my commentary about the Lethbridge Police Service, so I just leave it at that. The media articles can paint a fairly accurate picture just by using those examples.
A friend of mine actually used to be their recruiting officer, and he's a great guy. Another guy, who I'd deem a friendly acquaintance, ended up being their recruiting officer only a few years later...both are great guys and great officers.
They even brought in a new police chief a few years ago to try and improve their reputation & image - and the guy he took over from was an instructor of mine way back in the day. All of them great people.
I don't know how they somehow get saddled with such turd producers as often as they do.
*Just think, the only reason this most recent misconduct has come to light is because someone is obviously pushing for this information to be released to the media.
It wasn't Lethbridge Police who broke the story, nor was it the Alberta Crown Prosecutors Service that took the initiative to inform the public they won't prosecute - despite ASIRT recommending they do so, and the 2 members both being charged under the police act.
The ONLY reason THIS came to light is because they decided to pull this nonsense on a politician who lives locally, who decided to FOIP the information on her own & then decided to go public about it.
Just imagine how much of this nonsense doesn't get exposed to the public because the individuals don't know how to access professional standards, don't know how to request documents with a FOIA request, or who are too scared or intimidated to say anything...
As far as a service goes, it's far shadier than I think anybody could realistically imagine.
