does anybody know if the griffion is being used in Afghanistan? :cdn:

From what I understand, it is not. Apparently it is not able to operate at the high altitudes, often called "a civillian helo painted green".

The Griffon is a piece of CRAP!!!

Even the Pilot‘s say the same!!

All‘s it is,is a Civie Rotory Wing Painted green!!!!

Civilian companies will buy the best equipment they can afford ;)

Most of the pilots I‘ve spoken with like flying the Griffon...it‘s just that as a military helicopter it is almost useless. The air force has stuffed it so full of electronic gear, etc that the additional weight has reduced the number of passengers. I remember a couple of times in Bosnia when the threat level had gone up and they added the ballistic armour to the helicopter and we could barely place two passengers on the bird.

We need a good medium (not light) lift helicopter....

Cheers,

Gunner

There are no Griffons in Afghanistan, and there never will be...
