drill questions remove head dress ???

Question about drill . particularily remove head dress.
my understanding is if you have a weapon you use your left hand to remove your head dress .
what if you have a sword or cutlass.??.
the old manual states

Officers carrying swords shall be ordered to
return swords prior to removing headdress and shall
draw swords upon the executive command ATTEN –
TION following the command REPLACE –
HEADDRESS, observing a standard pause between
movements.

It was always my understanding that armed parties do not remove headdress, but I'll be happy to check the drill manual for you in a couple of hours.  Stand by.
