I have been surfing net about US Army and reading quite a few stuff these days. Just one thing out of curiosity, What is the difference between Army Ranger and Army Green Beret. As I have gathered both are part of US Army specials forces...but why two, and how they differ in training and stuff or roles and responsibility. which one is tough.. ?

Well, first off, you are comparing US Army Rangers to US Special Forces (NOT Green Berets, which is a common nickname from the public), which are both considered Special Operations capable units in the US organizational structure (meaning they come under the command of USASOC).

However, I don‘t think you should have to be told any answer, especially the question of which one is "tough." I will start you out here and you can come back and tell me what you learned.

Ranger‘s an Green Berets(Special Forces) are both Special Operations unit‘s, as stated above

Ranger‘s are more of a Light Infantry, quick reaction force, some of their "specialtys" is Raids an seizing airfields, as seen in Panama an lately in Afghanistan

Ranger‘s usually go out Company strength for these raids

Special Forces work with an train "indigiouns?" people

in Afghanistan they worked with the Northen Alliance an such
