Good day all!

I'm a recent graduate of Mechanical Engineering, and I'm in the process of applying to the Forces. I was called last week regarding an aptitude test that I have to write in order to move on. Is this aptitude test (CFAT I believe) a general test for anyone signing up for the Forces? I have browsed the existing threads in the past couple of hours regarding this test, and have found the information to be pretty useful. However, I'm still confused as to what I need to score in order to be qualified for the Naval Engineer position.

Furthermore, to anyone who has written the test recently - was it written, or computer based? It does make a difference for me, because I can't concentrate that well when looking at a screen during a testing process.

I'm going to have to practice my fractions and long division I suppose, been about four years since I've used it last...

Anyway, thanks for the help guys and girls!

From the thread title, I gather you're loooking for a commission as a MS ENG officer? Or are you looking to go in as other ranks in the Mar Eng trade?

"You will be invited to complete this multiple-choice test by hand or on a computer."

Thanks! There seems to be little to no knowledge of the grading scheme, but I'm not going in just to scrape by anyhow.

I'll let everyone know how it goes, and will keep this thread alive if I have anymore questions.

Update: Wrote the aptitude test, and I'm qualified for both the Marine Systems Engineering Officer, and the Naval Combat Systems Engineering Officer. My recruiter told me I did very well, and that my Interview will occur next week.

Do you guys and girls have any tips for what to expect in the interview stage?

Also, for those who are writing the Aptitude test, I'd highly suggest doing all the tests here: http://www.military.com/join-armed-forces/asvab

I did all of the verbal/math/spatial parts twice. It may seem like a lot, but you can really tune yourself to know the answer just by looking at the question. I ended up finishing the verbal portion on time, spatial portion with a few minutes left, and did the math portion in about 15 of the 30 minutes.
