Conservatives claim Liberals want Canadians to 'eat bugs' as cricket plant reduces workforce

I mean, it was a dumb idea to star with. I don’t care how well you write you business plan, but “make a factory to make crickets for people to eat” does not sound like a money-making venture to me.

Then the government was even dumber saying “Please take these bags of money to build you factory to make something no one will eat unless it is literally the last thing in the world to eat”.

It actually is a money maker. I don’t know much about it but but it’s a growth industry and it seems the money is in the powder/protein products.

It’s a weird world…

A surprising number of countries’ populations eat crickets.

But anyways, the plant makes cricket powder for pet food.

As an aside, the Seattle Mariners’ home field is known for their seasoned dehydrated grasshoppers, a Mexican traditional snack.

I’m Asian, so I’m a bit biased on this front, but I’ve always thought it weird that some Europeans/North Americans will balk at eating stuff like organ meat or Haggis, but perfectly fine with eating a hot dog or bologna.

I bet they'd eat pork chops, chicken thighs, or striploin steak if they were available and affordable.

People are weird about what they eat. My parents love fish, but won't try sushi... I love haggis, but I hate liver. I've eaten different bugs, but I'll still take a chicken wing over a cricket.

Anybody who has spent more than a few night in the field has already eaten more bugs in their sleep than the average Canadian.
