I'm tying to find out how CFPSA PSP fitness instructors are certified and what primary Canadian civilian organisation governs it.
I'm currently a civilian certified by the CSEP- as an exercise physiologist, NSCA-strength and conditioning specialist (special interest in Tactical S&C), ACSM clinical exercise physiologist, and I used to practice physiotherapy. I'm applying for DEO infantry and have made the Merritt list however, during my interview I really didn't emphasise my certs. They only really know about the Bsc physiotherapy.
I want to make myself more marketable.......Did I make a mistake not mentioning these? and is it too late?
Thanks

Trimmin, it depends.  Are you trying to join as an infantry officer or do you want to join as a fitness instructor.  If it is the former, you meet the explicit requirements of having a degree, canadian citizen, etc.  Whether or not you have the implicit requirements (leadership, aptitude, etc) will come from the recruiting centre.  If it is the former, call the local PSP office at a Canadian Forces Base.

If I read between the lines you seem concerned about your fitness test as part of the recruiting process.  You qualifications do not really mean anything as it is basically a pass/fail and a  check in the box through the process.

With your qualifications, you should have applied for physiotherapist.

thanks,
I used to practice physiotherapy...I didn't like it at all, however, I did like the fitness management, instruction and development aspect of it..as a Hobey.
As far as my fitness...I, obviously have created my own program based on the highest CF standards (JTF2, Divers and rangers I believe). I can easily meet these minimums.
But my primary concern was that during the interview, I didn't really mention/emphasise the degree of my certifications. I understand that a significant component of Garrison duties include managing the training and fitness of those whom you're responsible for.....

Trimmen, your certifications in fitness will have minimal baring on your acceptance as an infantry officer.

I see.......
Thanks Gunner, thats what I wanted to hear. I didn't feel that my including these specifics on my background would matter much either, its just so easy to second guess yourself after the fact.....

Thanks for that Hatchet Man,
I'll do that......if I don't get in when I expect to, your suggestion would seem to be the most viable option as opposed to lingering in the private sector

I should add that the recruiter's will be looking for examples of leadership (taught fitness for 3 years to large classes, worked as a coach for little league baseball, developed a volunteer physiotherapy program for seniors in need, etc).
