Comparing the Combat Arms (Inf vs. Engr vs. Armd vs. Arty)

Well then I might see you there! I've been away for a while for work but should be back this Wednesday. We start at 1900 but it should be a CO's parade which means inspection and some updates so if you're there by about 1930 - 2000 everyone should be getting on with the business for the night...

Comparing the Combat Arms (Inf vs. Engr vs. Armd vs. Arty)

I'm slightly biased but I would recommend joining The Eddies, great unit with a lot of solid, committed members. Definitely show up on Wednesday night you can pick brains of guys from both units and get to see some training possibly (could be really informative, or just a cleaning/organizational...

    Reserve Recruiting

Yes, I'm a member of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment (Infantry Reserve in Edmonton). The best way for you to find out information about joining the Regiment would be to stop by the armoury on a Wednesday night. Pretty much everyone should be in most Wednesdays and there will definitely be someone...

Canadian Forces Aptitude Test (CFAT) [MERGED]

    1) Like people already stated there's a couple ways of doing BMQ. There are usually weekend courses running (about 3 months long), or full time courses during the summer (4 weeks long), some areas also have Co-op courses where you're on course Monday to Friday from 1300-1800 and some weekends...

What's the dumbest thing you heard said today?

We were covering deer species in my Mammalogy class the other day and we had an amazing question asked. We were going through some of the characteristics of Mule Deer and one of the guys in the class decides to ask the prof "So are Mule Deer a cross between a mule and another deer?"

    Workup Training

Does anyone out there know, or even have an idea of when the workup training for Task Force 1-11 will be starting up? I'm trying to figure out if I'll be able to make it onto 1-11 or not.

Canadian Forces Aptitude Test (CFAT) [MERGED]

I'm not sure how they would run the training courses at your unit but I'll give you the training schedule for my unit in Alberta. We have a weekend BMQ course running October to February followed by a weekend SQ course from February to March. Last summer we did have one full time BMQ and SQ...

BMQ October 2007 - ALL locations

I got sworn in yesterday, will be in platoon 0094.  Hoping someone can clarify something about the civilian clothes we're supposed to bring though.  On the list I was given it stated they should be casual dress pants (i take that as meaning khakis), and a collared shirt.  I asked my file manager...

The Recruiting Process: Problems and Changes

Well just for an update, I found out why the Edmonton CFRC staff weren't returning any of my calls.  Because everyone from that office except for the front desk staff were in Calgary for the entire week.  But they returned my call today and told me that everything is now processed.  All I'm...

The Recruiting Process: Problems and Changes

For my reimbursement they paid for my lunch and the equivalent of a Greyhound ticket from where I live even though I drove myself up.  If you live far enough away they will pay for a hotel for you as well, for some reason I decided to say that I didn't need one when they asked me.  They didn't...

The Recruiting Process: Problems and Changes

Thanks for the tips airmich.  I've tried most though, and as for going to the Centre in person.  I would have allready done that except for the fact that it's an hour and half away, and that would mean taking a day off.  Hey that reminds me!  They still haven't reimbursed me for my other trip up...

The Recruiting Process: Problems and Changes

did anyone else have any problems getting a hold of the staff at their Recruitment Centre?  I've had my CFAT, medical and interview, the Captain that did my interview told me specifically to give him a call if I didn't hear anything within a week of returning my final medical form, this was...
