I came here to ask whether a Canadian soldier would use "slit trench" for what a US soldier might call a "ranger grave" or "fighting position".
Wikipedia isn't infallable,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defensive_fighting_position
and I thought this would be a good place to find out if what they say is correct.

Which would be the best forum to ask in?  "The Canadian Military"?

thanks,

Canadians call the first part of a fighting trench system a shell scrape, which is the first stage in creating a slit trench.
