That little trailer looks good, and by good I mean unbiased which is what documentaries are supposed to be. Iam going to try and watch it when it comes out, maybee this documentary will shed some light for me as to why people hate Mulruney so much (Iam 23 so it was just before my time).

I watched it and I agree with Tom, I like him better now. Too bad that wasn't shown while he was in office. I think he was betrayed by Peter Newman. Overall I found the documentary boring, but was drawn to continue to watch it. Tell your brother it was pretty good.

I don't paritcualrily like or dislike him, but after watching this you definitely begin to feel for him.  He may have been a son of a *****, but he was also human, complete with flaws, paranoia, hatred, etc.

I think Infanteer would be the first to agree that so was Hit....

Oh, we won't even go there.  I always liked Mulroney for what it is worth.  I was pretty young when he was PM but I liked what he did for the armed forces and was glad he got on well with Ronald Reagan.

I wonder why it is such a surprise to find out that human beings are...well, human beings.

I always liked him he took tough decisions that had to be made to get our country back on its fiscal feet. He handed a good government and plan over to his replacement(who lost) and the Libs used his plans and the money that he set in place to generate our current massive surpluses. They (libs ) owe it all to Mulrony, Paul martine just coasted along and maintained the plan. And I might add good for  them (libs) it was smart to realize the plan for the country was sound and just keep it going. Just wish they would have payed down the debt with the surplus instead of spending it on left wing crap.

I never was a huge fan of his but I have to say it was a very good documentary.  I also came away respecting him a little more.  I didn't necesarilly agree with all the things he did, but I will say he was a leader.  He did what he thought was best for the country as opposed to blowing with the political winds.  Hard not to respect that.

Yes, exactly...don't know if that is a healthy trend or not.  It's a double-edged sword in that we want to see our leaders as other-worldly somehow, imbued with all the answers to the questions that vex us.  In so creating this vision, we, by design, lose sight of the fact that no one could possibly provide that for us.  An odd system.

I think it's why Ralph Klein - in all honesty - enjoys as much popularity as he does.  Aside from making some tough choices, and generally being lucky to preside over one of the richest provinces in Confederation, he still manages to give off that man-of-the-people air, be it from looking like a schlub, his public battles with nictone or alcohol addiction, or what have you. 

It's a bit different than wearing a tux and singing "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" with the Gipper.
