RELEASE Questions

lilone said:
Well from what I've read it doesn't state when someone gets to actually leave.
It depends upon when you ask to leave and the circumstances detailed in your VR memo submission.

Oh and another question that most of you may find stupid but whatever, What happens if you just leave? Do they come hunting for you?
Uhmmm,

Yes, and not a wise choice.

Talk to your course staff, I'm sure they'll be more than willing to assist you; Tell them you want to be done with it and why.

It is a silly question.  One you may not have asked, in the less than thirty minutes you have been on this site, if you had read some of these topics:

Army.ca wiki pages - http://army.ca/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

You may want to SEARCH "Absent Without Leave", "AWOL", and a few other topics along those lines.  Basically, if you do leave on your own accord, then you may find the Military Police, RCMP, Provincial Police, or City Police on your doorstep.  You may find yourself brought back to the military installation that you left, and put on trial.  This could result in a rather hefty Fine, and may include time in the Military Prison.  All this info is on this site.

Most, if not all, you questions have been asked and answered already.  Pay close attention as how to use the SEARCH function and you will find them.

To summarize. Welcome to Army.ca, start reading.

Do it and find out for yourself.

I am currently serving a BE and my contract is up next autumn but I'd like to get out before then.  Is this possible and how do I go about it?  I'd appreciate any help, thanks. ???

Like any other Voluntary Release (VR) you would start by writing a memo requesting it, through your Chain of Command.  The final decision as to when you will be Released will be in the hands of the CF.

I'm applying for a release from the reserves this summer and just reading up on it first so I do it correctly. I've gone through Section 15 of the QR&Os, and it seems to apply mostly to the Regular force; as a reserve member without a contract, I'm wondering what the process is, and whether you have any recommendations for what to do.

I've also been looking into the Supp Reserve, but my understanding is that it's mainly for experienced Reg force members. I've done my (MP) QL3, but I was wondering if I should apply for it. I'm currently in university, and taking on civilian employment this summer and next year.

Very simple process.  Got to your OR tell they you want to release.  You may have to do a memo through your CoC.  There are a few forms that need to be filled out.  Also, you will need to return all your kit.  During the release process you can ask to be transferred to the Sup Res.
