RCMP revamps close-protection training

It’s been stagnant a long time. This is a good thing.

All training requires periodic review and refresh. But it also needs to avoid recency bias, and understand which core elements need to remain despite not being recently employed.

I have heard of an Airfield Engineering training review, where someone apparently complained "We never actually do airfield battle damage repair, why to we bother to train it?"

Oh for. fcuk. sake.

Maybe look at Ukraine, you numpties…

Kinda weird to see this actually being publicized, but sure? As said above, all training curricula should occasionally get a renewal.

RCMP close protection, in addition to obvious clients like the PM and GG, also provide full time or occasional protection to a host of other individuals depending on threat assessments. Threats can range from anything from the pie-thrower or overly aggressive hand-shaker on the campaign trail, to someone prepared to conduct an assassination, or to someone who unexpectedly recognizes and confronts their least-favorite cabinet minister in a public setting. These guys and girls don’t have an easy job. Glad to hear the training is improving and modernizing.
