Just wondering if anyone has an idea about postings when your OFP, what's the chances you'd get to stay in an area where you really want to be? I know it mainly goes by the fact of where your needed most, and if your not married they don't give a flying fuck if you have a girlfriend who's well established in a city your currently in for training etc etc but I did hear they do still make you explain why you'd like to stay or go to a particular area so I'm wondering if anyone has some idea of the process behind it all, I know there is openings in a few units here in kingston for Pte IS Techs which I will be in the near future so that's a start but what are my actual chances of getting one of those postings?

It’s never guaranteed, but you would go through your chain to your Career Manager. The justification I can see is that you (presumably) don’t need a geographic move, which is good for the CM because they only have so much money each year for moves.

But in general, most folks move. The big exception I can think of are RCN NCMs, who are assigned a “home port division” and generally don’t move from Halifax or Esquimalt.

Yeah hopefully the logistics will be on my side, my girlfriend has a house here and once OFP there's no need to relocate me because I'm already established here per say no need for relocation, costnof moving etc etc , I just need to get my F and E moved here and I'm good to go.
