Just my two cents...
As those of us who have been around for a while know...
OD combats can be modified with a little judicious use
of local ‘indigenous‘ mud, dirt, and foilage. It‘s the
same as modifying the cam on your vehicle by spreading
some mud on it to make it better reflect the local
foilage.
The new Cam pattern, while quite effective for the majority
of foilage in Canada, has some design flaws...
The CF had a private company create the pattern. I understand
that this company flew guys all over Canada taking pictures
of different foilage, and then had a computer algorithm create
the pattern.
I agree that this pattern works well in many pieces of terrain
in Canada... but I have some serious concerns about it‘s
effectiveness outside of Canada... like the Balkans for instance.
However, it‘s here to stay, so complaining won‘t do us any
good. BTW... I have seen formed up companies, dressed completely
in the new pattern... and it looks OK... It just looks funny
when we mix it.
Steve
