Because it‘s such a good Canadian song

Lyrics:
In Days of yore,
From Britain‘s shore
Wolfe the dauntless hero came
And planted firm Britannia‘s flag
On Canada‘s fair domain.
Here may it wave,
Our boast, our pride
And joined in love together,
The thistle, shamrock, rose entwined,
The Maple Leaf Forever.

[CHORUS]
The Maple Leaf
Our Emblem Dear,
The Maple Leaf Forever.
God save our Queen and heaven bless,
The Maple Leaf Forever.

At Queenston Heights and Lundy‘s Lane
Our brave fathers side by side
For freedom‘s home and loved ones dear,
Firmly stood and nobly died.
And so their rights which they maintained,
We swear to yeild them never.
Our watchword ever more shall be
The Maple Leaf Forever

[CHORUS]

Our fair Dominion now extends
From Cape Race to Nootka Sound
May peace forever be our lot
And plenty a store abound
And may those ties of love be ours
Which discord cannot sever
And flourish green for freedom‘s home
The Maple Leaf Forever

hey, that‘s cool, i never knew those words!!! thanks! do you know if there‘s words to the PPCLI marchpast?? (i‘ve played it in mil. band, and i love that song!! even though im an aircadet! haha)

PPCLI marchpast is actually a medley of three World War One songs:

Has Anyone Seen The Colonel
Mademoiselle from Armentieres
It‘s a Long Way To Tipperary

Have you guys heard the other one that Anne Murray sings?

Oh, land of blue unending skies,
Mountains strong and sparkling snow,
A scent of freedom in the wind,
Over the emerald fields below.
To thee we brought our hopes, our dreams,
For thee we stand together,
Our land of peace, where proudly flies,
The Maple Leaf forever.

Long may it wave, and grace our own,
Blue skies and stormy weather,
Within my heart, above my home,
The Maple Leaf forever!

Oh, Maple Leaf, around the world, You speak as you rise high above, Of courage, peace and quiet strength, Of the Canada that I love,
Remind us all, our union bound,
By ties we cannot sever,
Bright flag revered on every ground,
The Maple Leaf froever.

Long may it wave, and grace our own,
Blue skies and stormy weather,
Within my heart, above my home,
The Maple Leaf forever!

From East and West, our heroes came,
Throught icy fields and frozen bays,
Who conquered fear, and cold, and hate,
And their ancient wisdom says:
Protect the weak,
defend your rights,
And build this land together,
Above which shine the Northern Lights,
And the Maple Leaf forever!

Long may it wave, and grace our own,
Blue skies and stormy weather,
Within my heart, above my home,
The Maple Leaf forever!

Umm... I mean, not that I listen to Anne Murray or anything...it was just my friend, he was listening to it, and I was just like..."Hey..." You know?...

Located at the National Library of Canada website, here‘s a link to the digitized "Maple Leaf Forever" as performed by Robert Price on a Berliner Gram-O-Phone Co. 78 rpm record.

Other recordings (instrumental only) by the Kilties (1902), and the Victor Military Band (1916) are also provided on the site in MP3 and RealPlayer format. Lots of hiss in the recordings so you‘ll need to crank the volume.

Cheers!

I have a nice version of Maple Leaf Forever by the pipes and drums of the 48th Highlanders. One of my favourite songs.

Scott, I bet your 48th Highlanders version is better than those I posted above -- could you post a link? Assuming you have it digitized, of course... :D

Cheers,
Tim

In 67 they tried to teach us a politically correct version of the song - not so Anglo-centric - my school principal just about had a heart attack and refused to let them mess with a great song.

Stonge, if you‘re still looking for it, you can get the 48th Highlanders version of Maple Leaf Forever off of Kazaa
