Splitting this off pre-emptively since Mark Carney’s interview with Jon Stewart seems to me to be a soft launch bid for his candidacy:

Did you see him with John Stewart last night?

I think he will do fine in a debate. A debate is very different than a formulaic Q Period tit for tat.

There is also the fact that he has held actual positions of responsibility and authority, and run very large institutions.....
But did he laugh weird? :ROFLMAO:

This sounds something like a consultant looking for work with one of their clients, which always goes well right? Right? ;)

Jesus Christ, he looks like an aged Mr Rogers. CPC is done.

First @dimsum , thank you for creating this. I know we don't see eye to eye that much. But moving the discussion over to a new boxing ring is a good idea.

Next, It is rumoured Gerald Butts is backing Mark Carney (yikes, Butts should stay the F away from Canadian politics, everything he touches and engineers behind the scenes is a freaking disaster)

Let him I say. The more voters see Carney is surrounded by Trudeau's people the better.

He was a bit loose on his indirect defence of Canada’s climate change focus, and he was overly generous on Joly’s, Leblanc’s (and MacKinnon, who at the time hadn’t bowed out yet) reasoning for not entering the leadership race, ie. that they were committed most strongly to country first, and not because they felt they couldn’t compete in the race.

Butts may think he’s on the right course. Who are you and me except peons to be ignored? He knows what’s best for us!!

Submit!!!

I’m just surprised that in this day and age, someone isn’t doubling down on a lie.

That’s gotta be a silver lining of some sort.
It is. As long as the internet exists in its current forms, aspiring politicians are going to have to seriously consider before every utterance:
  • does this have the potential to sink a future ambition?
  • might I have to change position or lie about this in future in a way that sinks my ambition?

Not that I believe more than a handful are that forward-looking.
