Quick history question for all those out there:

Does anyone have any idea where les Chasseurs Canadiens were based at?  According to The Canadian Militia, said unit was first formed in 1862 and disbanded in the major Army shake-up of 1936.  No place I can find on the Internet has any information on a home station for this unit.  ???

All help is appreciated.  Thanks.

My unit, before beiing Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal, was at first The 65th Mont-royal Rifles.  The name was change in french very soon  ;)  But even today, we've been told that the Regiment had a certain link with les ''4e Chasseur'' because some of their officers help form the unit after their own has been disband.

Interseting to see that they were re-formed couples of month before (november) we were formed.

It went offline in 2008, there doesn't seem to be any specific reason given in the various forum discussions on it. For a short time after its demise it was possible to find a CHM (Microsoft Consolidated Help) file containing the entire site in its last days. That file doesn't seem to be available from its original download points any more.

One interesting comment here (http://www.arrse.co.uk/military-history-militaria/89469-%5Burl%5Dwww-regiments-org-%5B-url%5D-what-s-going-2.html)

The webmaster now resides here;

http://groups.google.com/group/becforces?hl=en&pli=1

He's not a fan of people mirroring/backing up his site, or even accessing it via archive.org IIRC. Shame.

Perhaps the plan was to have the site disappear in order to republish as a paid site or hard copy publication. There certainly seems to have been a strong fan base that would buy such a volume. But there doesn't appear to be any real information on a possible return.

Here is a snapshot of regiments.org taken from web.archives.org. A quick look through by me found plenty of info available. The snapshots after January 2008 say the site in not available.
