I scored in the 90th percentile on the CFAT and i got Laser Eye surgery (For my former first choice: Infantry) but I love working with computers so Sig Op is my first choice now. I completed High School and did some college (unrelated course so probably doesn't count) They told me to update my math to get a better rank on "The List" they use for candidates, so I'll be doing that too... I've applied twice in the past two years, didn't get in. I didn't apply this year since I'm getting married in August but I will be reapplying in Jan 2013 and would like some tips if there are any... maybe anyone that has got in this year or last let me know what qualifications you have, etc...? Thanks everyone!

You're a few months late on being a Sig Op.. all Army Sigs trades combined into one are are called ACISS.  Not all Sig Op/ACISS jobs are IS orientated, so don't expect this to be nothing but IS/computer work.

Anyways,  after X amount of time in ACISS Core you can go into IST(computers, etc).  I have no idea how long it takes for a new ACISS person to get into a sub-occupation.

The reason it is taking awhile for you to get in is because your first choice is/was Infantry, change that to ACISS and reapply and it should go faster.

What's the longhand for ACISS? And thanks for clearing that up. I actually found Milnet.ca through a Google search I conducted to find out why I could no longer find sig op as a career choice on Fores.ca

If you are seriously considering a career in the CF and you want to be an ACISS, you should apply yesterday.

They just hired a load of ACISSs and I know there is another selection coming up at the end of the month as well.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the info! I hope they have openings after my wedding in August. This is a great site! Glad I joined.

I had no previous experience with computers  and had only completed Highschool, wanted to
go Infantry but my eye was a V4. Long story short offered me Sig Op in 2007, got out
in 2011 after my contract expured (wanted to get married start a life) getting back in as ACISS this year hopefully.

No jobs in Ontario, plus don't really being a civi
