coupla newbie questions

One: Do wheeled recce vehicles have an advantage over tracked ones?
Two: Do our armd recce units receive airborne training? I know that the Household Cavalry Regiment commits one sqdn to 16 Air Assault Brigade, and many of the officers and men of the regiment have their wings.

Upon receiving you posting, how do the powers-that-be determine which sqdn you will be assigned to? Is it purely based on the Regt‘s needs? I‘ve seen some posts indicating that the heavies are to move out west, and Petawawa and Valcartier will be assigned Recce duties. How much time do dismounted activities take up during recce operations?
