Comments from the medics on SG05.

Isn't that how it always is eh... jeez.... the CF has a multi million dollar radio system with the new TCCS (or whatever the accronym is for it, you know what I'm talking about), and we still have to resort to Canadian Tire for our Motorolas.... oh well... someday it will all be sorted out.

Comments from the medics on SG05.

I wasn't able to attend Stalwart Guardian this year due to civilian work commitments... just wanted to know what the medics thought of SG05? How did the BMS run? Staffing problems? Equipment problems? Anything exciting happen at all?

    Gerber

As for buying a replacement Gerber at Crappy Tire.... wrong thing to do... well you just wasted $80 of your own money, when that nice lady across the big pond may have paid for it. Your course staff, as has been said before, cannot tell you to replace your own kit... you fill out a lost kit...

Vibrum (sp) soles (aka VIBRAM ...)

And I'm not entirely sure but you must have a medical chit on your file to allow you to wear the Vibrum soled combat boots. They are much more comfortable, I don't know why we all don't have them, but alas, it is a thing that has to be put through the medical wheels of progress.

    Replacement Ambulances

My unit, which is a Svc Bn (Reserves) has one of the old CUCV ambs... and we still use it to this day. Its a good piece of machinery, just getting a little old and clunky. And is getting harder and harder to keep clean as the years go by. But I fully agree, we do need a replacement. Apperently...

Can reserve medics be attached to a Combat Arms unit?

hey if they want you to commute that far every training night... then they have to pay you mileage. so theres some extra money to drag out of them.

Can reserve medics be attached to a Combat Arms unit?

STB Fusilier ... if there is no Fd Amb unit in your geographical area you become attached to the unit of your choice - keeping in mind it is ultimately the final decision of the receiving unit you will be attached to. To use me as an example... I am a medic, was originally with a Svc Bn, when...

    A question for the medics

I actually found a canadian army medic jump bag on e-bay about 8 months ago, of course I grabbed it up quick as my unit doesn't have enough for all of us. So that just proves that they are out there... you just have to look close.

Can reserve medics be attached to a Combat Arms unit?

Yes, I'm quite aware of that. Its the same situation we're in now (being attached as "outside medics") just with a different unit. My only concern was if since there is a Svc Bn unit in the same city who's sole reason for being is to service and support the combat arms unit, would the medics...

Can reserve medics be attached to a Combat Arms unit?

they do have places for us (medics) as they had two before the switch, but since then they have both went NES... Both CO's would have to agree with it eh??? Obviously the RCA CO, but which other CO, the Svc Bn one or the Fd Amb one?

Can reserve medics be attached to a Combat Arms unit?

Just wondering, what with all the Fd Amb talk that has been going on here... can reserve medics be posted to a combat arms unit? Or do we have to go with a Svc Bn if there is one of each in our town. Here's the story: I originally belonged to a Svc Bn before the big switch over to the Fd...

Log into the website with your SN and password.... click on Army NCM(Replacment) on the side bar menu... there will be a bar on the screen near the top of the online form, that will say how many points you have. I think thats clear.

    Lositik Unicorp

I think the amt of points you have is designated by your rank and element. And the points are replenished annually, so since he has another 243 points, it could be his annual amount for this year.

well don't that beat all.... hmmm.... so I guess this means that our local Ident Sec's should get a move on and start pumping out the CF 281's. I'll have to bring this up next time i'm at the armoury. Thanks.

    medic to nursing?

A nurse in the military is an Officer trade, you require your nursing degree first. There are ways to do that, RMC..... or other entry programs.... Why don't you just stay a medic, we have fun too.... but anyway, maybe someone else can help with this thread, although I'm sure its been...

you got it... I think 243 is the amount each year, and 40% (or so, says in the help section, must be where you got the number from). It may increase with rank or qualifications... hard to say, until I get to that point I guess it'll be a mystery.  ;D
